ever feel like gaming, but know you should go for a walk/jog/clownpunching (...i dont like clowns)? well, if you feel like that i have a solution!
what you need:
Laptop
wireless keyboard and mouse
long wide piece of wood
tredmill
if your tredmill is like mine, it has an abnormally large sheet of metal on top of the controls so you can put magazines and such. this is where you place your laptop.
next you will want to find your peice of wood. find one yet? no? well hurry up....i dont care if its heavy...lift it. there you go. ok now place it across the handles. iz nice. on this board we place our wireless mouse and keyboard. oh, and plug in the reciever. otherwise it wont work...
now turn on the 'pooter. turn on the tredmill and walk for your gaming session! yaaaay! lol
i can go for about 2-3 hours walking and playing (only red alert 1 on my current laptop. )
some warnings:
do NOT play frightening/heart pounding games like manhunt or elmo while doing this, if you freak out, you might fall down and die.
running while doing this is not suggested. you will lose concentration on your running (hell, i lose concentration while walking) and stop and slide off the edge and die.
drink water. if you dont, you will die.
watching tv or listening to music on your ipod while doing this is also fun. however, if you are not careful, a ninja may sneak up behind you and kill you, thus making you die.

Or you could just run for a half-hour, then game your little heart out because you know that you just an adequate amount of cardio workout for the day.

I do strongman training, so we generally like the stairmaster running at various intervals automatically since it's more a power endurance workout than running (/yawn). I've considered getting a PSP and tossing it into a plastic bag to avoid sweating on it and playing while doing the stairmaster.

I hate treadmills, I prefer real running that pits you against air resistance. Though your idea is a good one
, but the bouncing would get annoying while trying to read the screen.

No but really try sitting upright on a exercise ball, it'll actually do more than just slumping in a chair. Not high impact but a slight effect exists.

LMAO, I'm riding my bike around the campus everyday for fun and for traveling between my different classes. I think I'll hit the swimming pool next month. Anyway what's wrong with trying to make working out more fun?

DDR is still the best exercise on expert level it burns more calories than running does they have even incorporated it into many kids health programs.
I have a bad knee from the Marines and cant run anymore, so I got a bike and never have time to ride it but for what ever reason DDR does not hurt my knee, infact I think it makes it feel better. But I have not played it in over a year since I lost space to play it and got too busy with the kids.
Im planning on starting to play again tho gonna just hook it up in the kids room so I can watch them and do that at the same time. (need to find a new pad tho thew away the old one and it was good..)
If you really wanted a out of the ordinary method of exercise while gaming get a exercise bike and hook it up to a old fashioned generator and make it power your laptop off of your peddling. If you dont keep going your laptop diesthats motivation for you, plus you directly transfer your body energy into your laptop, sharing is caring!

I play my xbox 360 while using the stationary bike each morning. I go about 60-90 mins, so the xbox really cuts the boredom. I used a heart rate monitor to make sure I'm keeping a good pace.

I never work out, i only take as many push ups i can each day which is like maybe 4 at most.
Is it important to run to keep healthy? Whats the point of it?
I live in 19th floor in my building and in a big city so i always just take the elevator and taxi wherever i go. I never walk and NEVER EVER run.
I mostly train my left hand on the WASD keys...
I never been in a situsaion where i had to run or even walk more than a few meters at a time so i don't see the point running 30 min a day, that's like Hell. -
