    is there a special thermometer needed to find the temperatures? also, what i the maximum temperature a nvidia 9600m gt can handle?

    No, use HWMonitor from cpuid.com

    Anything above 90C is considered critical under load. The temps also vary from model to model.

    Most gamers will use RivaTuner... since its the only program that can monitor the GPU temps while in-game (with an On-Screen Display).

    HWmonitor is simple to use though.

    anything above 90C is not good.

    GPU-Z will tell you the temperatures and even log them for you if you want.

    I like Everest A lot. It tells me VERY detailed info about my entire system.
