    It depends which version.

There are 64MB dedicated, 128MB dedicated and I think 256 and 512 as well. The performance of the 64MB version is laughable. Best to try to find out which version it is, you should be able to tell by the turbocache available and some googling.

As for performance in CoD4 and Crysis... well a 128MB version or better I would guess at low at WXGA for Crysis... but it's hard to say.

There won't be any problems with CoD4 on low/medium settings with 8400GT (except in massive battles where it might be a bit cutting, but it much depends of RAM memory amount in your laptop).
You should forget about Crysis, that game is not possible to run properly even on stronger card than 8400GT is. Maybe it can handle 800*600 resolution in Crysis, but I see no point in playing such a game on that settings.

If it is true that the 8400gt have the performance of the go7600 expect to run crysis at medium with shadows on low at 800x600 or 1024x640. cod4 runs fine at 1024x640 no shadows at the go 7600 too.

The first half of crysis up until the Paradise Lost mission will probably run fine on low settings. Past that, and even my 8600m GT struggled to have a playable framerate even when I lowered the settings to low.

Don't know why people with no experience make these statements. I run it at 1024x768, low shadows, everything on Extra and get AT LEAST 30FPS in full servers. I did OC my card to 550/650, but at stock it ran fine at 1024x768, no shadows, all high. And by fine, I mean I don't play games at any lower framerate than 30... especially FPS's.

Jesus christ how many "does this video card run this game" threads can there possibly be, it's rediculous. None of these noobs have ever even heard of a search most likely.

^Very true. Does the OP know there is a 20+ page thread JUST over the 8400 Series?

    Here is that thread!

Same for me with my ATi HD2600 (at the default clock speed). I had to set it mostly to low apart for the few settings that don't have a noticeable performance hit (physics, sound and a few others) and at 1024 x 768 to keep things smooth. I doubt you could get playable framerates with a 8400.

I beat the game with very playable framerates, although I did OC a little. (450/600 stock 550/650 OC.)

i have vostro 1500 8400gs, and still play crysis at 800x600 some at medium...
can go to 1024x768 but all set on low and little OC... 8400GT DDR3 will play more, OC it and it should perform as 8600GS.................
