    +your OS?
XP is about 10 percent faster than Vista

    +drivers?
New drivers might add one or two FPS to your games

    +Harddrive speed (5400 vs 7200rpm)
    Will only change loading times

    +ram? [2gb vs 3gb(/w 32bit os) vs 4gb (/w 64bit)]
Anything more than 2gb won't really make a difference

    +resolution?
With a low end video card, it can make a huge difference. If you have high-end you might lose a couple of FPS

+turbocache improve my fps /w 2gbs of ram?
it wont make a difference with that much ram

+how are the HP laptop soundcard?
if the sound card can take the load of the cpu, it can make a difference

I disagree with you on that one. There have been a large number of people who have reported seeing an increase of 20 or more FPS in games after upgrading systems from 2gb to 3gb. Granted some games will take better advantage of the memory increase than others.

Referring to the past F3Sv versus G1S tests, in both cases going from 2gb to 3gb doubled the FPS in FEAR. However, going to 4GB somehow lowered the performance by a bit.

I dont recommend having *** on your laptop. Might cause heating issues, and you dont want to have to deal with blockage. Though honestly, its all the *** on the telly I have a problem with. I keep falling off!

    Edit: Really!? You censor that!?

I noticed zero performance increase in going from 2gb to 3.5 gb ram on my desktop. Results will vary depending on what you do/how you test.

The performance increase on laptops with nVidia 8m cards is due to Turbocache, since desktop cards don't have that, they don't benefit as much.
