rig in the sig. in non battle i get high frames60+ but in intense zombie action i get down to about 20 frames and hover around there +/- some. running 1600x900 all high no aa or af. Pretty sure im not throttling temps are low and im monitoring the clock speeds.

Are you gaming on AC and not on battery? I'd say try lowering reflections or shadows or whatever but even with a 5730 you should be killing most source based games (my 5870 will go as high as 260 fps on maxed settings without vsync in l4d2).

yes running on powercord. another weird thing is i think multicore rendering lowers my frames... could be wrong.

Somethings definitely not right. I get 50-60 fps at those same settings and res with an underclocked 4650, never lower.

multicore rendering seems to cause problems.

vsync also can cause problems sometimes.

you also could need to update your drivers or something. Especially if you're on 10.6

    10.8 should be fine though.

you could try downgrading or something but *shrugs*

Well my previous laptop with GeForce GTX260m and same Core i7 720, on all highest 1600x900 would drop to 30fps on intense zombie sequences.

I haven't tried my new laptop that much with left 4 dead yet, to give you more info than a simple run.

I dip to around 40 fps minimum on near max settings.

ok so that does make sense right to hit 20's sometimes.
