Alright first the scenario. My friend bought a hp pavilion entertainment pc and he wants to play games such as cod2 and NWN2 which need a better video card. The computer right now has an Intel 945dm/gu express chipset family. What video card would you guys reccomend? Thanks for any and all help.

note- this is hard because I don't have the computer in front of me.

Its not possible to replace the graphics card in almost all notebooks. Only a small percentage have upgradeable graphics cards, and none of the DV series are in that small percentage. Even those that are upgradeable, have to meet certain thermal criteria and specifications before the upgrade can take place.

The DV series of notebooks is quite a large range, and includes many notebooks. So, you will have to ask your friend which model he has. Most of the newer DV series has been very popular, because of the build quality and the appearance, so alot of information on most of the notebooks is available on the Internet, and also NBR user reviews. Have a look at them for more information.

It'll also be pretty expensive, and you won't see the full potential of the 7900GS realized, because it'll be connected via a relatively slow port compared to the graphics setup on a notebook or a PCI x16 slot on a desktop.

I hear you can get it for $400 with the 7900GS. If your laptop has an ExpressCard slot and a GMA, then it's worth it if you want to game. Besides, quality LCD monitors are going for ridiculously cheap prices nowadays, might as well use this as an excuse to pick one up.
