okay, i dont want to get into the whole thing about hp really - just the fact that they really dissapointed me. i ordered a brand new laptop - juiced it up custom to 2400 dollars - get it last week and it CRASHES with internal errors, they tried to troubleshoot, they said its something more and that they need to service it - well i have been lied to about 6 times now over the past week by hp customer service. not only have they lied but they have completely screwed me over. i will not go into detail but if you check on the hp forums on here then you will probably see my thread. all i can say is, i am extremely dissapointed in hp. (no customer should have to get into a yelling match to see who can yell the loudest with a customer service rep. - i have to say, this was a first)

so now im looking for a new laptop and i am done doing this customize stuff, i have waited long enough for a laptop and now im back in square one. this is a nightmare. i am going to go to bestbuy or somethign to get a new laptop now.

what i do need to know since you guys are always helpful is a recommendation of BRAND and GRAPHICS CARD that i should get that will be able to play games .. i had a t7500 2.2 ghz + 8600m GS graphics card on the hp, i would like something comparable or higher (ive noticed the 7900 series 3dmarks better than the 8 series).. does anyone have a laptop recommendation that will be good for gaming? i am looking to spend up to 2200 dollars and would love to be able to go to the store and find it. i do not want this custom stuff anymore.

i did find this at my local best buy and was wondering if ASUS was any good, here is a link to what i am looking at.
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...ategoryId=pcmcat103700050047&id=1180743500907

the only thing different on this laptop is that its an 8600M GT instead of the GS i had, is there a difference between these and what is it?

thank you guys for all your help in my dealings with problems with laptops, you guys have helped me a lot. thank you.

Products from Asus/Acer/Toshiba are very decent. However, HP/Compaq/Dell are not....

Keep in mind that ASUS makes the BEST motherboards/chips.......

You may want to check out this thread that discusses the bestbuy G1S and the G1S from newegg.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=141997

They are slightly different and you might want to consider getting it from newegg (next day shipped if you need it fast) for the 2 yr warranty.

I had an HP and I returned that to get an Asus. No complaints so far.

Ahh.. the Asus G series is always a popular and wise choice. Go with the 8600GT instead of the 8600GS.. it will give you the edge when playing graphic intensive games.
Also, You'll get it a little cheaper at gentechpc.com... you can customize it, or not..totally up to you :)

okay these are the two laptops i have come down to at a local store - it is between an ASUS and a Toshiba.

    The ASUS has a 8600M GT with a T7500
    The Toshiba has a 8700M GT with a T7100

which one is better in terms of brand and performance? is the graphics card or the processor more important? both of these computers are the same so which is better to play games?

One should not post idle speculation without cold hard facts and statistics to back it up ;) Fact is, as the two largest names in the business, they will have a larger number of potential complaints. But it is all about proportionality. My business HP notebook has been nothing but fantastic, but you are more likely to hear about problems than otherwise on the internet.

Nonsense. All of them make from low to high-end notebooks but that may be news for you.

    kraz30g, I woudn't pay 2400$ for a HP Pavilion...since it's not worth it, imho.

For 17" notebook, I would check out the Clevo M570RU

I would go with the ASUS G2S-X1. The Toshiba X205 has a slow CPU compared to the T7500. Geforce 8700M GT is simply an "overclocked" 8600M GT if you look closely. ASUS/Toshiba both produce pretty decent notebooks.

someone give me advice on this laptop? i am literally looking to go buy it NOW.

I'm using one right now ! I can run all of my games on High with decent fps. It runs pretty quiet even during gaming.

the only thing i have with the asus is the hard gaming look... the toshiba seems to have a much nicer look... but i am not looking for a laptop to win a beauty contest, i am looking for a performing laptop.

will the t7100 compared to the t7500 make a major difference? i'd like to get the 8700m GT but if the processor speed makes more of a difference in my gaming then i might have to go with the t7500 asus ...

also - is it good to go with the 8 series of graphics cards? i know the 7 series score higher (7900) but the 8 series is the future...

I second the Asus - faster CPU and higher res screen - and what is probably a slight difference in GPU performance.

8700mGT is the better card so that will perform better of course. i think they say its basically an 8600M overclocked? but in any case if u want the best performing then i guess that is it.

X205 does look much more better than the G2S. Both of them could run "today"'s game on High with decent fps. I believe they could run Crysis on medium-ish settings.

According to the Nvidia Mobile product chart, its simply an "overclocked" 8600M GT.

looking at 3dmark benchmarks between the 8600m GT and the 8700m GT there is a huge difference...

    8600 GT = 3566
    8700 GT = 5200

im guessing i should probably get the 8700...

I believe the 3Dmarks for the 8700GT are estimated and not real.
