    hi everybody!

I just did a clean format and installed windows 7 ultimate on my lappy. As usual, windows 7 detected all the drivers and hardware, but it didn't detect my gpu. Then I installed the 195.61 driver from laptop video2go in my notebook, but the game performance was very bad.At xp i was used to get 150fps but now I can only get 50fps.I tried 190.51 version driver from laptopvideo2go too,but no hope.It was a clean install,I set the driver's setup to highest performance, although my laptop is equipped with a driver for windows 7,there is a huge performance drop.

I have a 8600m gs.All things look good but I don't know why there is a performance drop.

    OS:Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit.

Note:At windows xp installing a nvidia driver was taking a more time.During install process also a command promp was opening installing some files.

Now on 7 during install, command prompt does not open and installition takes really a short time.

XP install and Win7 installs are different.
Xp installs in about 45 mins up to an hour (depending, and it can run command prompt for some thing), and Win7 in about 15 to 20 mins (and since most of the things have already been incorporated into it, no command prompt is usually seen).

Your performance drop could be associated with a couple of things.
First, I would recommend that you download/install Nvidia's mobile 186.81 drivers (you can find it in their archive alongside beta drivers).

19x.xx drivers apparently do not give good performance from what I was able to understand ... but a drop from 150FPS to 50FPS is ... strange.
You can remove them through a simple uninstal procedure, then go into safe
mode and clean up the system with Driver Sweeper.
Restart into Windows and install the 186.81 version.

    That's one thing.

Also, since you have an 8600m GS card, be advised that those cards are prone to the overheating issue and problems with soldering which caused very high temps and low performance as a result.

Check the temps. If they are too high, the card is likely downclocking itself to prevent from frying itself and the rest of the system.

download HWMonitor and/or GPUZ and check your temps.

In order to decrease the temps, you can try to undervolt your cpu and gpu.
You can also clean out the air vents of the laptop (this is one of the most notorious aspects that causes overheating).

I think he is reffering to the Nvidia Drivers installations, not the OS's... I have had XP, Vista and 7 on my machine and Nvidia Drivers installs are about the same in lengh in all of them... If the installation under windows 7 is taking too little time, maybe it isn't installing correctly... Why don't you try the latest drivers directly from Nvidia?

Maybe Vsync is enabled by default in the Nvidia Control panel after the new driver install. I would also stay well away from the 190.XX drivers, they are the worst I have ever used and others have said the same. I recommend 186.81.

agreed here.. i was using 195.62 drivers for flash player 10.1 HD output but that didn't work and my temps went up a lot... so i'm back to 186.81...
