because it's so long and it's useless
there is absolutely no way to tell if steam deals has an actual deal update, or if it's some guy replying to the last post.
every time the thread moves up, i'm hesitant to check if it's a deal update, or if it's a stupid conversation by random ppl.
it's a waste of time, nobody clicks it, there have been three 'free portal' threads that keeps getting created by different people, because it's a sign that not many people bother to check the long steam deals thread.
get rid of it, it's useless.
if i had time to read the steam deals thread, i would rather just sign into steam and see what they got myself.
    it's easier.

get rid of it, or just dont use it as a 'check this thread for new deals' thread.
    because it's not very helpful.

It's not a stickied thread so I don't see why this is even up for discussion.

because the mods use it like a sticked thread.
every steam deals gets moved into this thread, and it's like same as disappearing.

people 'chatting' about steam deals, and actual steam deals should be separated.

Would be better if its a sticky and in the title its posted when it was last updates. Steam deals come fast and often and I have better luck of finding out about them be checking the Steam store home page twice a day or one the deals sections of hardforum. Funny thing when I do check it, it always seems to be about half a week behind.

    exactly,
they come and go so fast, and that 'steam deals' thread is FULL of people just CHATTING.
it gets updated all the time, and you can't tell if it's some people chatting or actual update, until you click on it and check the first and last page.

    rather check the steam itself.
so, STOP moving the 'free portal' etc threads into THIS stupid 'steam deals' thread, because ITS NOT A STEAM DEALS THREAD if you think about it.

If this thread truly bothers you so much then don't read it. Let's try and be adults about this, there is no need for you to try and ruin something others find useful.

Sadly the creator of the thread is not updating the front page anymore (which is not his fault, he kept it going for so many months) and since only the creator (or the moderators) can alter it then its usefulness is clearly in doubt. While I think it is extreme to ask and even make a poll to close another thread, I agree with the OP that lately that thread is absolutely useless.

Anyway to open access to the front page/first post to all members so it can be updated by whomever whenever? Kinda like a Wikipedia page type thing?

Could just make a Steam sub board, for discussion about deals and support.
I dont like poking around in the thread wasting time looking for a new deal when i can do the same in under one minute accessing Steam site.

Well instead of making a unnecessary thread about it, I would suggest you contact crash "the moderator, and maker of the thread, and discuss it with him.

Maybe you can make a thread of your own, and keep it up to date. I don't know if it will be a sticky though, since they don't like having more than 3, and other threads would qualify for sticky's too "Charles' GPU thread for example", but I'm sure he would be glad to add it to the Gaming General Info sticky.
