I just got this laptop from the pawn shop for 225.

    i5 3230m
    750 gb hd
    8gb ram
    hd4000
    dvd writer
    ect

    225 unreal

so i was curious about gaming I have 33 games in my steam library and wanted to see if it could game on low 720p

to my suprise all games ran at native 1280x800 medium/high

I just bought farcry 3 and grid auto sport and they both run at my projectors native resolution of 1280x800

im a die hard pc gamer and was wondering what games are you playing that require a 680m gtx and up to get good visuals and a fun experience.

fun doesnt equal money spent imho, im happy with the 4000 but wish it was a 980m tbh.

so anyone else have experiences to share with weak graphics cards?

    :p

I bought a y410p on ebay for $530. I know the hd4000 is pretty good but I require something more than a hd4000. The laptop I got on ebay comes with a 755m.

Well for AAA games I doubt a 4000 can get more than 10fps..

Pretty much any Valve games will run on it, as well as popular "competitive" games (Quake Live, LoL, Starcraft 2, Dota 2, etc.). For triple A games, well, older will run, like GTA Vice City, older NFS, System Shock 2, well the list is quite big when you think. If you want newer you have South Park The Stick Of Truth and lots of indie games.
For what it's worth, newer integrated solutions by Intel are pretty damn good. Ten or so years, when one thought about integrated graphics, they were synonyms with the word "crap." Nowadays you have them handling TF2 and CS:GO. For everything else consult Google with "gaming" and "HD4000" in the search box.
The question is, why would you spend $225 on something useless when you already have an Xbox One and, if I'm not mistaken, some laptop with 850m. $225 is a price of i5 4690k (may vary from region to region), 2/3 of GTX970, or mobo+8GB of RAM.
"What games are you playing that require a GTX680M and up to get good visuals and a fun experience." - that's quite a rhetorical question. That's like asking "why would you need a SACD set up when you can listen to 320 kbps mp3 on your transistor radio?" or "why would you get a Ford Mondeo when Trabant is perfectly fine to get from point A to point B?" Example - Skyrim. I'm pretty sure you will be able to run it on HD4000, but have you tried it with mods. Gameplay+visual overhaul mods - when you experience something like that, there's no coming back from it. But unfortunately those things require good CPU and GPU (aka that GTX680M). And there are always those "tripe" A (did I miss an "L" there somewhere?), like ACU or FC4, with <del>bad</del> horrible "optimization." Oh and general games, which benefit gameplay may benefit from higher graphics options (i.e. "draw distance" - upcoming trees/traffic won't pop up 25cm in front of you, something racing/sim games might benefit gameplay wise).

Yes you can play many games from 2012 and earlier at 720p and low settings at 20-30fps. I use my HD 4400 in my thin and light to game in a pinch. But I have my GTX 970m that I can play at 1080p at high to highest details with minimum 60fps for best gameplay experience. It's like comparing DVD vs Blu-Ray video quality. The difference is astounding.

I think "i5 and HD 4000 is epic what a beast" sounds extremely trollish as a thread title when common sense will tell you that is not true.

He's mentally retarted give him a break ;)..

I'm sorry but jokes aside, comments like that and the Xbox One being epic don't endear you to us and sound like outright trolling.. This has been pointed out to you before OP... next time, think twice before posting something like this..

OP is talking about i5 Dual Core and HD4000.
    Not i7 and HD4400/4600.

Not sure what CPU they used here but probably similar results

Guys, just stop writing anything at this point (after epic HD4000 title), we all know he is trolling this forum for a few months already for some reason (that I still cannot comprehend, maybe he is getting paid? Sony or Microsoft might pull that s*** off).
