    computer has been acting slow.
    made sure i was set to high performance.
    using throttlestop set to max.
    checked running processes nothing showing up as using more than 1 percent nor more than 9 percent total.

    3dmark vantage is 1/3 the performance getting 800-1300 vs the 3100-2900 i normally get

    I have just re installed windows 8.1 pro.

    Im looking for any suggestions as to what may be happening, and perhaps a thread to future concerns of users experiencing the same problem.

    What laptop? Is it new? Could be time for repaste or to clean out fans and heatsinks?

    Have Intel XTU (check the graph to show power, thermal and current limits) and HWinfo open and run some benchmark and maybe we can pinpoint what´s going on.

    4700HQ likes to power throttle every now and then but to suddenly drop performance like that sounds like something else.
