I'm not sure exactly the number, but on CPU PassMark, 3610qm scores about the same as 2920xm

I doubt any 2nd or 3rd gen quad core would bottleneck the 7970m. There are some users here that use the 9xx series with the 7970m (M15x I suppose) and they get similar P scores. I believe P scores also factor in the CPU? That being said, why do you want to choose between the two? If you are getting the 3610, get it. I doubt the price of the upgrade would be more than a 100 odd bucks.

2670m+7970m is what you wanna get i think. 7970m is a lot faster than the 675m and the 2670m shouldn't hold you back at all. :)

I agree with bigtonyman. Just out of curiosity, what laptop manufacturer is offering the 7970m with the 2670?

Any reseller that offers the Clevo HM series with a 7970M or any HM user who just buys 7970M from RJTech with the vBios mod.

Personally I think performance will be negligible. So you look at the differences and features.

Ivey Bridge is a die shrink of the Sandy Bridge. Should run cooler, it's a 22nm fabrication.
Ivey Bridge uses the tri-gate (3D) architecture so it consumes 50% less power than Sandy Bridge.
Ivey Bridge for laptops also has native support for PCIE 3.0, though I don't think laptop GPUs can fully saturate PCIE 2.0 yet.
Ivey Bridge's HD4000 GPU is a huge stepup over the HD3000 on the Sandy Bridge.
Ivey Bridge supports the low voltage DDR3L, 1.35v
Ivey Bridge supports 4K Video Playback, or the ULTRA HD format, only Toshiba and a few other ridiculously expensive TVs support that res. No current BluRay disc supports it.
