hi. im abt to get the hp nc8230 (whether i like it or not) so i was wondering if games like sims 2 will run on it ? my specs go something like.. Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (#) supports Enhanced Intel® SpeedStep Technology (1.73GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB); 80GB (5400 rpm); 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM ; ATI Mobility Radeon X600 PCI-Express (128MB video memory). when i chked out the specs for sims 2,EA games sez it needs :
    . 800 MHz processor
    • 256 MB RAM
    • At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space
    • A T&L-capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM.
    Supported video cards:
ATI Radeon(TM) series (7000 or better)
    • X300, X600, X800 (and more, but this is enough i suppose)

the only thing lacking then, is the 800 MHz processor, as mine is 740. so do u think the game will run ? (P.S : i live in india, so this is one of the highest specs available here on a laptop. sigh!) anyway, some help would be appreciated. thanx ! [:X]

The 800 you are referring to means that you need an 800Mgz clock speed processor to run the game. Your computer does not have 740Mhz, but a 1.73Ghz clock speed. If anything, Sims 2 should run remarkably well on your system.

P.S. I'm buying a new laptop with similar specs to yours (just a P4 3.2Ghz and a 256Mb x600)and it will be able to run today's games just fine (well, probably not Battlefield 2 and up).

    War isn't about who's right, it's about who's left.

phew! load off my mind! cuz i asked EA technical support yeh, and in their own words, i "may encounter problems while trying to run the game" because i was "lacking 60MHz when compared to the minimum required 800"! (whatever that means). well, ill find out for myself by next week, but all is well with the world today. [ :D]

P.S yep, i was looking up the hp pavillion zd8000 too. one helluva machine! not available in india though, sadly.

anyways, thanx a lot you guys.

BTW, the 740 refers to the model number of the CPU and not the speed.
