I might be getting a laptop with a Intel x4500 intagrated graphics. From what I have read it is almost the same as the 8400M. Now the 8400 can run COD4 on basic settings. Can I expect the same out of the x4500?

Yes, but expect much more and definitely it would not future-proof against future games.

Agree with everything, x4500 should run it but HD3200 in Puma platform should be better if you are on budget laptops....if you got the money 1000-1500$...go for laptops with mid-range dedicated graphics....refer to the link below ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=275056)

Probably, if you have the same cpu speed and ram as the 8400M was run on COD4 with, then yes!
