128mb is good for playing anything from 2006 and before. After that you have to drop the details to low.
Vista minimum for Aero Glass is 128mb I believe. So you should be ok. just don't fool yourself into thinking that you're gonna be playing anything this year and beyond with amazement. -
you could have saved some money by getting 2 gb ram as 4 gb is a waste with 32-bit vista. instead, i would have opted for the 8600m gt as opposed to 4 gb rams
and yes, for C&C generals, your specs are fine (overkill even, i've been running it on a ati radeon 9200se for years) -
The 8400M GS will handle C&C Generals without a sweat. Even an integrated card should handle it; it's a pretty old game.
-
it really depends on what kind of games and what settings will you be playing at.

Buying 4 GB of RAM from Dell is like asking to be beaten with bamboo rods.

4 GB of OCZ notebook RAM for $49, that same upgrade from Dell cost you probably $200-$300. If you just ordered it, call Dell customer service up and ask them to down config your RAM to 1 GB and order it separately, and with the money you're saving get the Intel WiFi card, higher graphics option, and possibly the T8100 or T8300 if you'll still be under budget.
Seriously, never buy RAM through Dell, it's literally throwing money away. -
lol i ordered it about 3 weeks ago now. so it's a bit late. im from the uk and an extra gig was £20, so i dont think that's 2 bad. will the general performance differ between the 128 and 256, such as booting up time etc ? and im not a very big gaming person, and this is mainly for uni so not sure if ill get a lot of time playing on games but hopefully some
cheers for the advice above -

RAM from DELL isn't that expensive anymore, especially since there's almost always big deals. Remember when 4GB was $500 more? Now it's about $100-150 more for a stock configuration and big deals usually come with 4GB Ram already configured for you.
-
gd point, i got mine on a deal. so do u reckon the 128mb graphics will impact the general performance i.e. word, boot up time and just general apps other than graphics ones?

thanks, put my mind at ease lol
just hope it's not 2 long till it gets here
is 128 mb enough?
