    It shouldnt really die unless your overclocking the GPU or the GPU cooling system isnt good enough.

    Also what do you mean by die?

    i've been playing gpu extensive games in my m60 for 2 years and never had any problems with it. i just started to overclock the gpu and undervolting the cpu lately and still running smooth. maybe you just have bad luck playing games on laptops and should look into desktop instead.

    My Acer runs GTA: San Andreas and SimCity 4 with aplomb, but I wouldn't subject it to Quake or Half-Life 2. And that's with a 128MB dedicated nVidia GeForce 7600.

    On another note, it sounds like your laptops had some underlying issues other than gaming. How about cooling? Did it literally burn up while you were gaming on the laptops? Or did you attempt to OC the CPU/GPU and made a mess of things?

    If you obstruct the vents on your laptop (like on the bed) you can damage it, even when not using games...

    Just use common sense and be happy...

    Many major notebook manufacturers have their own gaming line of notebooks.

    HP=Voodoo
    Dell=Alienware/XPS

    I dont think if it killed laptops companies would be creating gaming lines for Notebooks.

    However OverClocking any system can have harmful effects and it seems like more gamers than any other notebook user group overclock their systems.

    Gaming is bad only if you don't take physical care of your laptop. Make sure you clean the vents around the vents and fans to remove dust as it will collect.

    Newer, demanding games create heat--which is bad for just about any component of your computer. A sufficient cooling system is important--and some systems are better than others at that.

    But I wouldn't go so far as to say that gaming is bad for your notebook.

    I went for the precautious approach and jus bought a notebook cooler just to be on the safe side.. :) it sits on there about 50% of the time...the other 50% it sits back in its case...and i try to keep it dust free aswell...

    I've gamed for a long time on laptops so no I don't think they're harmful to them at all. I guess there are always exceptions, like chris mentioned. but running games you know your particular notebook can handle should never be a problem.

    Considering my laptop is built for gaming (see sig)... I'd say laptops work just fine for gaming.

    It sounds like you've got some other hardware issues going on.

    Will gaming kill a laptop? No

    Will video kill the radio star? Definitely
