i mean, come on how is this game getting great reviews??! the steath is just sloppy, if you want a GREAT stealth game try splinter cell conviction! im serious! splinter cell blows this game away when it comes to stealth, and the gun play is just boring, and with dumb puzzles

not to mention it looks like CRAP! and i can run this game on my 6770m on max settings very smoothly.

    try splinter cell conviction!

    pathetic

If we speak about stealth its Thief.

Deus Ex 3 is a fantastic deeply immersive game.

First of all, wrong forum. Second of all, if you think Conviction is a great stealth action game, then... wow. DX:HR is an amazing game.

I loved the game, but played it on my 32" HDTV. To me it was a GOOD version of Mass Effect type game. The combat was better than Mass Effect and the story was better (easier to follow). There was also minimal dialogue choices, which are boring to read. Personally I barely used stealth at all, I like to play the bad and kill everyone, with some good hacking too of course. It is a great game because you can play it and solve it as an action player or stealth player. Again, personally I hate stealth games, it gets awefull boring hiding in shadows and going from cover to cover. Come out full guns blazing!

my biggest grip with the stealth is moveing from cover to cover, its horrible! im a Metal Gear Solid guy myself, and as any MGS fan knows, we are ANTI splinter cell, so for me to say SC's stealth aspects are far more superior then deus ex, thats saying something

for anyone who has played conviction, they would agree. and again, i was really let down with the graphics :( :(

The graphics aren't bad, but they do have a muddy palette. You must turn down the luminosity for things to look good. It is supposed to be a dark "Blade Runner" type graphic atmosphere. My dv6t with i7 and 6770 could NOT run it smoothly at native 1920x1080 (yes, I have the good screen). I had to drop to 1366 to get decent rates. Anyways it was a much better experience on my desktop 4ghz, gtx 580 at 1920x1080 with every graphics option maxed out.

I have played Conviction. I wasn't that impressed with the stealth.

AND MGS??? Yeah, cardboard boxes are awesome. Bad troll.

    Yep, it's just you.

I loved this game, and I fail to see any flaws in this game besides some meh textures and not so good facial animations on non-pre rendered cutscenes.

It's a fun game, but definitely flawed. Although, the mechanics become null of an issue since praxis points are incredibly easy to gain/find. I'm near the end, and I have 13 spare points, which I could easily add to cloaking or typhon to make myself a GOD>

What's wrong with MGS? Sure, the stealth wasn't super great, but the storyline and characters have always been solid (even liquid too I suppose).

But deus ex games never really appealed to me. I hate stealth and most puzzles. They're just a time suck that takes away from killing.

Hell yeah its just you! This game is great, and the stealth is very good! And out of ALL the splinter cell games you choose frikin conviction to compare it too? I mean cmon! Chaos theory has AMAZING stealth, and so does the other older Splinter cell, where as conviction is by far the weakest stealth game of them all! Because of that comment i myself think of you´re opinion as invalid...

I think the stealth in Deus Ex Humar Revolution was very well made.
Much better than Splinter Cell: Conviction, game that was more action oriented of the Splinter Cell series.

Deus Ex HR is all right. I stop about every 30-45 minutes and try it again later.

Witcher 2 on the other hand I couldn't stop playing.

Thief 1,2,3 (The Dark Project, The Metal Age, Deadly Shadows) are my favorites :)

I haven't purchase DX:HR yet, I wanted to, but the graphics and the bland environment (office type / laboratory type) that I see from screenshots is stopping me. Is the graphics close to comparing with The Witcher 2?

    Immersive story atleast?

Not even close. The textures are pretty low detail and it definitely is a ripoff of the Ghost in the Shell anime, so it has very anime like look and feel to it.

Witcher 2 has the best visuals of any game I've played and then it would be Crysis.

I think Assassin's Creed graphics is atrocious. DX:HR much much better.
    - Make that all games from Ubisoft, I think graphics are atrocious. Except for FarCry long long time ago when CryTek did it.

DeusEx is amazing. Its a game that requires time to explore, time to appreciate it fully.
I think that you have to play both DE and DE:IW to fully understand the game.
Reading thru all the PDAs and ebooks, doing the side quests, hacking into terminals and reading emails is a vital part of the whole game that helps immerse yourself in the world of modern noir world.
I love it. IMHO it can't be compared to anything else out there, it's a type of game that creates his genre, althought it takes some aspects here and there such some formulas from MassEffect and MGS/SC.
I didn't had a problem with stealth portions honestly, sometimes is challenging and hard, but I like it alot.

I don't think the poster was trying to say that the MGS series are bad, just that simply their 'stealth' gameplay pales in comparison with so many other games.

Yeah. Admittedly, I've only ever played MGS2 (the only PS I own is a PS2). It's a good game, but to hold that and Splinter Cell Conviction (the worst stealth action in the whole series) up as shining examples of the stealth action subgenre is just bad.

I'm bored with DX:HR. Wanted to love it but, it's just not clicking with me. It's a quality game but, I just don't find it to be as great as people are making it out to be.

I'm MUCH more of a Thief fan, and I'm really hoping that this studio delivers bigtime on Thief IV. I'm going to go out on a short limb and guess that it's going to be based on this exact same game engine...??? ....great....

I'm going to have to side with those that think the graphics are pretty damn bland. They are, imho. That kind of gives me an overall "meh" feeling, right from the start.

Guess it didn't help any that I was working on my 2nd playthrough of The Witcher 2, when I plopped this onto my pc. Graphics shock! Gorgeous to mediocre.

I DO really enjoy the hacking part of this game. It's cool to be able to hack into systems and disable various things, gain insight into stuff, and steal $$. Sometimes the AI seems pretty witty, until you hide in a air vent and they aren't smart enough to look down??? LOL

I'm near the end, I think. Just got to the news station in Montreal, when I got bored with it and quit playing a few days ago. Going to have to suck it up and just finish the game.

There's going to be a Thief 4 sometime. There's a video at youtube with fans going wild when a logo of Thief 4 was shown. Deadly Shadows has awesome graphics even for its age. It's the perfect stealth that grips you inside while anticipating.

I have been a Thief fan since the beggining back in 98 or 99 when Dark Project came out. Good thing they did a 3rd person on deadly shadows which made it much, much more enjoyable visual-wise.

The Witcher 2 is the new outline for action, stealth RPG now in terms of graphics. Though Deadly Shadows still has awesome graphics next to TW2. I love both of these.

I was asking about the graphics of DX:HR, I ended up not buying it, and bought Crysis 2 just for benchmark purpose, though it's okay specially with DX11, HR Texture at 1080p. Not an FPS fan but rather an RPG fan, but Metro 2033 and Crysis 2 are okay.

The two coolest characters, Garrett and Geralt.

After finishing DX, if I have one problem with it, it's that the boss fights can basically only be done one way, straight up combat. Penny Arcade even made a comic about this. Spoiler:

    Max out Typhoon early

    Another spoiler:

Don't fall for the biochip recall like I did, unless you want to fight the toughest boss in the game with no augs and a jacked up HUD

Well, clearly you've only played it in the way it is not intented, or just played the levels where you can go on a kill spree. For example Hitman: Blood Money offers very good levels where you can't clearly go killing each and everyone.

I cannot play stealth games they bore me and I think it is because I am not very good at being stealthy I like to run head first into the battle with grenades falling out of my pockets making as much noise as humanly possible.

I sucked at Thief, I sucked at Splinter Cell...so I assumed I would suck at Deus Ex.

However I went into the game rampaging and killing everyone and found it boring, it actually made me want to be stealthy and although I was pretty bored to begin with the game got better the further on I played. I switched my armoury for completely stealth and I am a changed man.

When the alarm does go off though I take my opportunity to unleash hell. :D

Not my favorite game of all time but a very good game non the less, certainly does not suck.

It's great. Gameplay-wise it takes some getting used to with long loading times (and the AI is dumb as heck) but the story sucks you in and keeps you engaged. I was genuinely curious at how far-wide the conspiracy spread halfway through the game.

^^ and thats kinda stupid. I shoot 10 people and gather 7 revolver ammo from bodies? really? So few of them didnt have any? There are like 100 armed people and i have troubles with ammunition? As i mentioned earlier i rarely use more then 1 bullet on one target (unless headshot doesnt kill em ofc) ...

It's actually more stupid in other games when people are carrying around 3+ extra clips for 2-3 guns. Where do they put them all? much more likely that he only has the one...
