    hi
I'm planing to buy a laptop.
I really don't plan playing on it, but this is VERY important:
The only thing that matters is weather it is possible to play Morrowind (actually play it, not to watch slideshow) on intel gma950?

    Thanks in advance
    shoki

The Intel GMA950 could play Morrowind, but on anything that has 1GB RAM or less along with a single-core processor will die. On 2GB RAM and a Core duo processor, it'll work fine. This is because the IGP uses system RAM and threads calculations over to the processor rather than doing them by itself. Hope this helps (get 2GB ram and you'll be set).

A couple of years ago I tried playing Morrowind on an 855GM/Dothan system. Needless to say, it didn't work very well at all. 640x480@low details was the max it could do if I wanted a non-choppy framerate. Also, on top of that there were many graphical glitches which were due to the intel software directx implementation not rendering textures properly. Things like staircases and walls would flicker in and out as I would walk around the world. Good luck!

The GMA is better then that old intel extreme crap though, they aren't even comparable. It does work fine on the GMA950, theres a thread about it around here somewhere actually. To the person who said you need a Dual Core Processor and 2gb Ram, you do know the recommended specs for Morrowind are and old PIII 1Ghz and 256Mb Ram, yeah?

I played Morrowind on my Dell X1 with good settings and nice FPS. Your GMA should play good. But this game is poor coded, so dont be scared if you see low FPS somewhere.

I once compared my X700 with the GMA900 and the X700 was just 5 fps better in Morrowind, strange game if you ask me.
