I am thinking of getting a laptop with a performance video card in it.
Here is what I am curious about:
Is it worth spending extra $300 to get a laptop with GeForce 7700 as opposed to GeForce 7600? Both come with 512mb memory.
I read the guide at the top and these cards are both in the same category.
    Thank you for your answers.
    Cheers

not for $300, the 7700 is marginally faster than the 7600.

if it were a 7800 or 7900 for the $300 difference, then that would be worth it.

I personally would not spend 300$ for the difference between those two cards but that's me.

    What notebooks do you consider?

The 14" Asus A8Js with Core 2 Duo 2Ghz with Geforce 7700 which runs about $1600 versus 15.4 " Asus F3jm which is 1.83Ghz with Geforce 7600 witch with the rebates would run about $1300

Compal EL80 or GL30 VBI... I built my EL80 for about $1150 including overnight s/h.

There are more factors to consider in choosing between the A8Js and F3Jm though. Screen size, resolution, DVI on A8Js, and CPU make up more of the ground for that $300.

spending that 300 toward ram for the 7600 will undoubtly make your games much better then the 7700 with only 512 mb system ram
