    iv ordered a p170hm which has a 6990m. i was told by the pc company that the 3dmark is at 80c and the furmark is 93c max. is this good or bad? and what would be considered good?

    I'd say it's ok.

    I really don't care what Furmark brings my GPU to, I go by gaming temps.

    Furmark at 93C is fine. Real games should never get it that hot, and the Tj is something like 105C anyway. So it's a pretty decent cooling system, and the cards are made to downclock before they get damaged anyway. The 80C on 3DMark is great to hear, because that's much more in-line with what games will run at.
