Hey,
is it true that Far Cry isn't vista compatible?
-
It ought to be. Most games are. If it's not, it will be soon, or there are tweaks to make it so.
-
it is, works for me
-
No. its not. However, I think you need to download a patch before you play.
-
thanks. i was just reading the system requirements and it says "Windows 98/Me/2000/XP (only)" I hope its compatible! I want to get it!
EDIT: read the requirements online -
i see, i see. thanks a lot everyone!
-
I think the reason it would say those operating systems only is because previous windows will not run it, nor will non windows OSes run it. But since it was made before Vista, there is no reason they would have included it in their compatibility.
-
Works perfectly, as I've got it on my desktop. Don't worry about it.
-
then in that case, can't wait to get it!!
-
You have to be playing with the 1.40 patch installed or else it won't work.
-
work great on vista 1.40 patched installed

I don't know about the cause, or the differences for other laptops, but on Vista Home Premium with my G1S, FarCry v1.4 works fine up until I finish the Carrier level (level 2?), then the loading screen for the next level finishes to a black screen. I have to force-close the program then. I've even tried using cheats to skip to this level - same thing. In fact this is one of the big reasons I have bought XP, so I can sometime dual-boot install it on my laptop.
FarCry is so far one of only two games I have had problems with in Vista however - the other being Max Payne. That game works fine, but the sound during the cut-scenes is missing. -
i have 1.4 with vista on my laptop, and the game crashes for me, either after a level loads, or during gameplay, it fails to works for me, but i think it may be my drivers.
-
guess i'll just get farcry for xbox then and not take the chances with vista
thanks for the input everyone -
hey i wanna know why i cant switch to different rendering modes. like the improve, paradise, cartoon and such. is it a proprietary nvidia feature or is it something that my card does not support? MR X1900 that is what i have.
is this true about Far Cry?
