I wonder weather this came about from massive pre-order cancellations..maybe amazon is trying to lure people back....i wouldnt be at all surprised if other companies did the same thing soon.

Wouldn't the massive pre-orders influence IW to no longer release games to the PC?

Well, MW2 would get all their preorders back if they included dedicated servers... I will be really disappointed if they just shaft the PC gaming community about this whole thing. It's pretty clear it's a strong desire of the community. To ignore fans of the game like that is pathetic.

TBH, I could care less, but just the principal of it all. I hate it when companies dis the fans. It's a catch-22 though. If they truly lose a lot of sales, then they could just as easily ignore the PC for future releases than change to dedicated servers.

Quite possible, but thats a different debate, the point i was making was.... Perhaps amazon are trying to sweeten the deal and regain some of pre-order customers that cancelled, and that secondly it wouldnt surprise me if other shops also sweetened the deal, they have probably ordered massive quantities of the game in expectation of huge sales due to the popularity of the previous game.....
Quite simply if IW dont want to really support and encourage the pc community then good ridence to them....as htwingnut stated if they are not prepared to listen to a very loyal fan base then maybe we are better of without them.

Why don't Activision just give it for 40 bucks rather these sucking promotions and stuff.

I Hope then add dedicated support as an addition to the game. I give it a month, and they will come out with an update that will allow dedicated servers along with mod support. They just do not have the resources right now to just add it into the game, since the disks are probably on the production line right now.

They're not hurting many people. Out of a prospected thirteen-plus million sales, seventy thousand people are in the tenths.

Well the petition is @ over 150K. Which is 8,998,500$ in sales. I do believe ANY co. would be shocked by this, if you cant see that you are nieve.

Also the dedicated server issue is huge and if you cant understand why then you are a console player and you really shouldn't have any opinion of a PC game on a PC forum. Kthx, bye.

Signing the petition implies you care enough about the company to help them. I'd prefer a developer tank rather than see them developing PC games merely under threat.
If PC gaming is going to go down, I say we do it nobly, and not begging & pleading.

Yeah, $9M in sales, any way you slice it is huge. The petition might not do much, but pre-sales cancellations and lack of sales will get the vendors screaming. They really need Walmart to breathe down the necks of Activision to make it worth anything.

$20 towards my next video game isn't quite enticing enough.

if it was $20 amazon, i would probably bite.

    maybe $25.

yes, the principle of it sucks. it's great when we thought they were making games for *us*. but no, they are making game for *money*. awesome. i remember when we used to love IW... *sigh*... maybe it's time to find a new franchise.

used to love Valve too... now they lost my interest. IW... who is next? who is LEFT?

Actually Amazon has been doing these deals for a while now.

Get $5 GC for buying GTA: Episode from liberty City

Get $10 GC for buying Assasins Creed 2

Get $10 GC for Tekken 6

    You get the picture

it ain't even enough if they suddenly add the dedicated servers in there, the fact that they did it in the first place is a smack in the face, and a simple addition of a dedicated server which more than likely will work like s**t, because they would have just churned it out to make us happy is no where near enough to get me to buy this POS!
