today and i have to say its fantastic, only put in a couple of hrs so far, but it shows a lot of promise in what its offered to this point.

    ive a few questions:

1: are the items dropped by npc's random or are they set?

2: whats the length of the main storyline?

3: and this doesn't seem to be a normal rpg, how do you level up, can anyone pick locks etc etc

what are others thoughts on this game, pros, cons, tips and tricks would all be welcome.

    thanks

I think most non hostile NPCs have the same equipment from level 1. You'll run into nobles with ebony gear etc. I could go to ghostgate at level 1 and steal glass armor. I'm not sure if you can walk into a deadric ruin at level 1 and find daedric weapons, but if you did the monsters would rip you a new one.

Your skills are kind of like a dice roll. If you have only 20 in sword and you're trying to hit a mud crab, you'll still probably miss half the time lol. Honestly you're dead in the water if you don't specialize your skills so you have majors in the 40-50 range at start.

Main story getting wraithgaurd and corprus disease and whatnot took me a while because I was distracted by all the dungeons to explore and gear to find. There are a ton of hidden artifacts and unlike oblivion it's all available from the get go. I would guess about 20-30 hours if you stick with the main quest and run through it.

Morrowind's a great game, and to answer your questions:
    1. They're not random, but they're not set. A rat can only drop rat meat and a guard can only drop guard armor, but the gold and stuff is usually random.
    2. The main storyline can be finished in 10 minutes if you know how ;) But seriously, the storyline is about 40 hours I think? Possibly more
    3. It's not a "normal" RPG, as you can probably tell by the first person style and the overall gameplay. You level up once you gain some points in skills such as Blade or Athletics or w/e, and you gain a level by sleeping. You can pick any lock, as long as your security skill is high enough to do so.

The game, if you were to complete all aspects of it, would take hundreds of hours to complete. You might want to get yourself familiarized with the magic system early on, because magic is one of the game's best parts, but also one of the most confusing. Also, don't worry if you get sidetracked. The game is supposed to let you explore and have fun, so you can do whatever you want!

    Have fun with your game!

everything is random i remember i was just walking along a path and someone fell from the sky and they had an item that gave you jump a 1000 point boost, tried it and died :p and you gain levels by just doing it when you jump you get agility if you walk you get walking skill(i forgot the skill this was under)

    1) the items are based on loot tables. (this can be modded)
    2) fastest completion time was 8 min. average is about 30-40hrs
    3) useing your skills levels you up. try to level 5 points in 3 different skills that are based on different abilities (wis, str, agi) so when you level you can bump 3 stats 3 points each. Max out Endurance FIRST! since your HP pool is decided by base end at each level!

there are TONS of mods. my favorite is overhaul, morrowind comes alive, and alchemy sorter (alchemy is AWESOME!!!!)

someone also recommended that i get some graphics enhancement mods, you have any ideas of the best ones around? :confused2:

well johnny how bout you play the game how you want to and ill play it how i want to, nothing ive asked ruins the gaming experiance in any way, just some simply questions to help me understand the basics of the game, anyway :rolleyes2:

thanks for the tips guys, i played it for quite a while last night, and am starting to get into it, i havent played a rpg like it before, first person view takes a while to get used to.
level up system also takes some time, but i like the real feel of the the game, ie if i try to open a door or chest with others around i end up with some very upset and potentially hostile npc's  , love the idea of having to go to prison etc but this does make it harder to improve my secrecy stat

The guy falling from the sky is not random. It was place in the game to give you a flying scroll or something :p

lmao.........classic, and it also makes some sense, i someone was using a flying scroll spell and it happened to ware off in mid flight, well the law of gravity seems to exist in morrowind as well :swoon: , apart from the occasional dead monster that is. :nah:

Morrowind is a great game and in some ways I liked it better than Oblivion.

I just wish it supported widescreen. :(

It is not random, it is scripted.

You just have to be in the right place.

Check videos on youtube, try the "speed run" videos they are brilliant. The wizard in the sky is the only real way to speed run the game in less than 10 minutes.
