well im just wondering about the ea games, and also a few other ones, between console and pc. i have nhl 08 for pc and 360, and the 360 is 10x better than the pc. the fifa 09 is really behind as well. im just wondering why they use the same engine for pc as the ps2. im sure a computer can handle a game just as well as a 360. i also tried ironman for both systems, and the pc is worse than a gamecube!

so why do they do it? im happy i didnt buy them for pc, because i would be pissed.

if anyone hasnt seen nhl 08 graphics, its worse tha nhl 2003 graphics for the gamecube.

i was looking forward to playing some nhl 08 with the 360 controller just as i would with a console.

Those games are specificly coded with the counsole graphics and hardware in mind. They optimize the games to run on those platforms, and show all of their strenghts. Then they are ported over to PC, losing much of the same dedication and quality put into making the counsole verson. If you look at some FPS that started on PC, and moved to counsole...you'd see the same effect in reverse.

These games had seperate "teams" of developers to introduce the content in optimized forms for their specific hardware (PC/360/PS3). In otherwords...they didn't skimp on labor or time because they know quality is important.

But, if you look at say "COD4" balls-to the wall...an all out PC (costing thousands of dollars) will definitly look and play better than an xbox360. Just because there's so much more extra spec. you can add to your hardware to take advantage of these new games, the effects shadow those of next-gen consoles.

I think it depends more on the team making the ports. A big budget game like CoD 4 will look good on all platforms whereas quick, low budget games like Iron Man will suffer greatly. But, for the most part, PC versions of games usually look the best.

I must say that in the case of Valve's Team Fortress 2, it is better to have on PC because I have heard from several friends with X360s that they don't have any updates on the maps and they don't even have unlockable upgraded weapons, which the PC version gets (and has had for quite a while). These people with the Orange Box have been waiting for eternity for game updates. I must say that it can depend on what game it is, but I just stick with PC games.

The thing with the pc is that you'll always get the best graphics at the time, no argument. (As long as you're running a desktop computer so you can upgrade the hardware.) Another advantage is patches/updates are usually free, and more frequently implemented and user mods can give the game a different flavour. (Should have bought Oblivion for the PC instead)

But the advantage with the console is the controls and the attitude towards gaming. My impression of pc gamers are all hardcore serious (albeit lonely) gamers, whereas with a console you can easily call a few friends over and have a laugh. And, honestly playing PES6 on the 360 will always be better than with a keyboard.

I really prefer consoles...the controllers are comfortable and you never have to worry about game settings. The graphics are good enough...may not be as high as PCs but it's just fine.

Well it's a matter of preference really. Some games were obviously meant for one system or another. Playing Warcraft or the Sims on a console isn't great while playing some other type of fighting game such as Soul Calibur on a PC might not be as good either lol :p

PC games are coded to be compatible with many different types of hardware setups a consumer might have while the console game only needs to worry about one specific hardware setup(i.e the console). So obviously, you won't have compatibility issues with a console(or at least you shouldn't have lol XD)

The main thing is to pinpoint which of the games you prefer more and how you want to go about it. A console is far more multiplayer friendly than a PC, while on the reverse a PC can do more than just game than a console. The PC is upgreadable, while the console goes obsolete after the new generation comes out. Many of these differences can or may not make a difference to you.

Personally, for sports games, I prefer a console since I find the multiplayer aspect of them more appealing and the controls feel better on the consoles.

PC games aren't as good because developers aren't willing to spend much money developing pc games. There's a very high rate of piracy in pc games. It's much harder to pirate a xbox game. EA didn't even port Madden 09 to pc for that reason.

pirating on a 360 does take more work but i don't think it's all that hard. i think the majority of people with a 360 wouldn't think/know they could pirate games, and the some of the people that look it up don't cause it seems to hard for them or the risk of being banned from xbox live.

i think that most sports games are better on consoles, but any FPS game i find harder to play. racing games are better on consoles too, but i've never tried it on my pc with a wheel setup or controller.

it would be great if you could play console games on pc, like companies making an emulator for people to buy or something, but then there's the whole piracy thing again. i like to play skate games, but i don't have the money to buy a console and then a new tv so it looks good, and they never make them for pc.
