so i am told that you cant upgrade video cards for your laptop, so if you buy a laptop now with a decent/good video card, how are you suppose to keep up with the newer games that are going to come out if you plan to use that same laptop for the next 3 years. would you have to get a new laptop if you wanted to play the games that are coming out in the next 3 years??? or is there any way you can do to keep up by upgrading such as your hardrive or RAM????

Some laptops can have their cards replaced by other cards...Dell is known for this. But the cards can only be replaced by cards that are in that form factor and for that model.

You can keep up by upgrading RAM and Hard drive. In most notebooks the hard drive is usually the bottleneck when it comes to applications (slow load times).

well whenever you purchase a computer, it will eventually become outdated within a few years. if you plan on staying current with games, you will be better suited with a desktop..you can upgrade everything in a desktop, at any time.

a laptop will be upgradeable, but to a point. often times MXM and AXIOM (upgradeable gpu, of the same form factor..MXM1 to MXM1 and so on), have nothing to upgrade to yet, so that technology IMO is still growing. DELL does offer upgradeable GPUs (you can buy them through dell store i believe).

but if you plan on upgrading everything, go for a desktop. most laptops you can easily upgrade ram/hdd

    hope this helps,

    pb,out.

The AXIOM/MXM notebooks are not that common. The upgradeable VGA technology is more of a thing for manufacturers, not really geared toward the consumer. It makes it a lot easier for manufacturers to upgrade their own notebook line.

If you are getting a notebook, don't plan on upgrading the graphics card.
