    well, i was about to reinstall cod4 after a reformat, and i pop the disk in and i get this....

    hmmm... kernel issues are often quite serious, some dynamic link library modules in the windows directory might be damaged, or your windows registry might be messed up... which cause conflicts to your game installation.

    try this first:

    Go to your C: drive, create a folder and name it "Disk Images"
    (without the quotation mark, with space between)

    Then create another folder within "Disk Images", name it "Disk1"
    (without the quotation mark, without space)

    Go and explore the COD4 DVD, then copy and paste all the COD4 DVD contents to "Disk1" folder.

    Once finished, go to "Disk1" folder, run "setup.exe" or "install.exe" to begin install the game. And see if it helps.

    If not, then I strongly suggest that you reformat and reinstall Windows again, as the kernel issues might lead to some serious problems in the future.

    hmmm, i did use a registry cleaner, i backd up my registry too so ill have to try that, i googled it and someone suggested just replacing the kernel32 dll

    not yet, i tried your method, idont know how to make the file deletable

    just restart your computer, then you can delete the folder.
