Played it and it feels like what L4D should have been all along. It has several small improvements but the game does feel too much the same.
I am growing a bit tired of the formula and there isn't much calling in for me. I never understood the point of having different protagonist as they are just skins... they should put different abilities to the survivors too.
Anyways unless somehow all my friends from L4D1 jump and the game gets a price cut, I am not getting this. $45 is too much for a fixed version of L4D1.

It was always meant to be a sequel. Add several maps to the first L4D and you'll get endless hours of replay ability.
The Jockey is probably best for walking guys off the edge or into the spitter vomit. The spitter vomit does a surprising amount of dmg. -
lol. i played through the demo using melee weapons only after it becomes possible, it was awesome. during the rush to the scaffolding i could hardly see
- note: do not try to kill a tank with a machette, it doesnt work.

guitar hero i was..

Better get in some practice though if you plan to go after achievements in the final game, one of them is to beat a campaign with melee only. -
i found out why it keeps pausing in the game.
its because multicore rendering was enabled.
disable it and it will be smooth~ -

I just played it and it is definitely an improvement on the original in almost every way. Kinda wish it was the old familiar Survivors but I guess thats just me.

Really fun game
Decided to buy it with 3 friends instead of modern warfare 2 -

Heres a way to play infected in the demo
It works, i played for like 3 hours. Although create your own server so that you can change the settings, only the host needs to use these files.
Charger is the bestAnd its auto respawn so its incredibly unbalanced but oh well. We ran into a few glitches, we had 6 survivors at one time lol. And since its auto respawn you cant choose your spawning location so sometimes you spawn somewhere stuck. The hunter jumps incredibly high as well.

I'm going to try it asap
-
Is the game really that different?
-
imma buy it. its great. but its not super different. -
I figure I will wait until a 50% valve day or whatever it's called.

SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Took the demo for a spin. I'm impressed. While the weapons "feel" more CSS-ish than their Left 4 Dead incarnation, it's not too big of a gripe for me. The music is slightly tweaked as well, so when a hoarde comes I have to learn the new cues.
And I like the new items, haha. Machetes are win, and I actually tested the AED by shooting coach dead. The special infected are a good additions, and the mechanic where you have to shut off the panic event changes the game quite a bit.
Despite that, though, I'm not buying it for full price. This game didn't feel like a mere expansion, but I don't think it's quite a sequel either. Should've been Left 4 Dead 1.5 -
