well... i got a friend that works on compter systems and stuff like that .. and he kinda knows how to "upgrade" the GPU
i think he said that u gotta open the laptop and see its inside so u can choose a decent and correct Video Card
im not exactly sure wat he said cuz he said alot of things
wat do u guys think ?

-
its integrated, i dont think yoiu can upgarde it
-
Clearly, that guy really does not know laptops. The GMA950 will never be upgradeable. Period.
-
yea.. he mention that problem but it think he gots a way.... im really not sure man -
It's impossible for that laptop in your sig. Your friend REALLY does not know laptops.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Now now I have faith in his friend. Is there any way I can invest in him so that when he finally solves the upgrading the integrated problem I can get rich along with him and laugh at these non-believers?

you can use an external videocard (Asus XG Station)....
if you have an ExpressCard Slot 54
Thats it.

In order to get a dedicated card, at a minimum (assuming your laptop has a ded-card option on an order page) get a new motherboard to get the new chipset and external PCIe lanes. If there is no option within the laptop configuration pages online, then there is no upgrade path.
Then, most GPUs are soldered in...like mine. I could never upgrade, even though I have a dedicated card.
Exceptions exist (like Dell, but you'd have to get a Dell-specific notebook and a Dell-specific GPU that was offered on that notebook at some time), MXM, AXIOM, etc. But in all reality, outside of Dell only about 0.1% of laptops can be upgraded. Even Dell is extremely restrictive, so bottom line is you could barely upgrade a Dell if at all.
EDIT: The XG would be a viable alternative, but this product is pretty much vaporware at this point - it has never been released. -
hahaha... well i think " why the hell not".. i cant believe that its impossible. We´re suposed to be in the futurejk... anyway its kinda dumb not able to upgrade it.. there should be a solution in the future or NOW

Find a new friend... the GMA's will never be upgradable what so ever. Sorry you wasted money on what you thought could game... But life is hard sometimes.

Dell 1520 is upgradeable judgeing from the "Remove the graphics assembly" page in the manual. only problem is that i HIGHLY doupt that dell will release something like a 9600GT (Or even GS) for the 1520. They would more likely make a new laptop and call it the 1540 that looks exactly the same expect it has a black bumper around it.
-
1) It cannot be an integrated laptop.
2) The card can only be sourced from Dell (or a pulled eBay card from a Dell laptop).
3) The card had to be offered at some point in the lifetime of the notebook. For instance, you can only upgrade a E1505 to a 7300, X1300, or X1400...because those were the only three cards ever used in that machine. -
i just found this info on Intel graphics 950:
http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma950/
and in 2 parts they say something about "Upgradeability" ... ?¿?¿? im confused now ?¿?¿?
is it possible now or wat the heck ?¿?¿'¿?¿?¿? -
you do realize that your notebook WILL NEVER be upgradable... enough people have stated that.. If you wanted an upgradable notebook, you should get an ASUS C90, or Sager 5790, they are an example of full upgradability in notebooks, even the graphics card can be upgraded... easily.
What that is, is the DESKTOP chipset, yes the GMA950 is also in desktop cards.. stop looking already! either get one of the notebooks listed above, or wait til who knows when for the ASUS XG station.. and that's only if your notebook has an Express Card slot. -
You have a notebook. Many have tried and failed to upgrade an IGP. None have succeeded without changing a motherboard to a dedicated GPU version...if the laptop was ever offered with a dedicated GPU that is.
No, this is not possible...period.
There is one way that you can upgrade your notebook's GPU...buy a new notebook. I know that is not what you want to hear, but it is the truth. -
hehe... ok i´ll stop this arguement
-
Not possible to upgrade a 950.
