So, I was thinking of hooking up my 1720 (with an 8600m GT) to my 19 inch dell moniter.

My question is, which cable do I need? My moniters original cable is a DVI hookup i believe, and I only notice the VGA on the side of my laptop, would I need some sort of converter?

Also, my laptop's native rez is 1440x900, would I be using that on my moniter, and would the screen be blurry or odd?

    Thanks

yup a DVI-VGA converter is needed. theyre probably available in several PC stores online for under $10. it just has VGA on one end and DVI on the other so you plug the converter into your laptop and the DVI cable into the converter

and it depends on the highest resolution of your monitor

i have a 1440x900 laptop and a 1680X1050 monitor, the graphics card auto adjusts your resolution when you swtich and you can adjust it yourself if you wish. and no it wont be blurry

Would the quality be any better if it's a DVI to VGA cable, or VGA to VGA?
