left 4 dead demo

hi, just wondernig how many of you are going to purchase the pre-release of left for dead... the demo will be avaliable tomarrow if u pre-order from steam and the demo won't be avaliable until the 11th for everyone else. i wish that not only steam did this because i would pre-order but i want to have a hardcopy in my hands... i just want to play the demo tho :x

yes, this is one mp game that will rock. i want to play the demo so bad but i dont want to preorder on steam ;\ ive been lookin for new mp games and farcry2 was a COMPLETE let down, but at least the single player im still enjoying.

as for what other multiplayer games im gonna buy, its all about cod5 and left 4 dead this year ...

then SC2 and Diablo3 next year! w00h00

 

Eh, I can wait 5 days. I'd rather have the original copy. I take pride in my games.

There's a demo? Neat.

Been wondering about this game - on one hand, it's valve, so how could it possibly be bad? But on the other hand, it looks a LOT like some of those zombie mods that are already available as mods for various games... and frankly, I don't remember playing a single one where the multiplayer component involes controlling a zombie that didn't suck ***, because no one wanted to be a zombie

I was hesitant with steam when it first came out, the whole physical copy thing and all. But I like it a lot now. Makes things convenient and such. Not saying I'd use another service like the crap EA offers (well the crap other than their games lacking a digit of the CD key).

Oh, and preorder L4D ftw.

Too bad i cant preorder using steam, it was painful for me to get the orange box (where i live they dont have it) and its gonna be even more painful with this one... but i think its worth it

Ya me too. Don't see how fighting AI(no matter how good) offers the replayability of fighting actual people. This game might be a let down.

 

im confident this will be the definitive multiplayer game of the year. the concept of having 4 humans working together to kill mass amounts of enemies is great, but even greater is the fact that 4 other people can play the role of "boss" zombies that each have a unique ability (one can run really fast, one is a "tank" of sorts, and theres a few more). replay wise, this game will be awesome because of the AI never reacting the same twice... no more running thru a level and dying and starting over thinking it'll be easy because u kno where the bad guys are.. cuz u won't -- and the fact that the game adjusts to the users abilities is even more promising. since they are saying no two games will be alike, i think we have a winner here

i just want to play the demo, anyone who has pre-ordered it and is going to be able to play tomarrow please leave all your comments and such here! i hope i can just hold off till the 11th for my chance at the demo ;o

if it is retail then you should have gotten a code via email. if not then maybe contact the retail store you pre-ordered it from

 

Oh, yeah she did ask me for my email. Was I supposed to get it already? Haven't gotten' anything from Gamestop yet.

Yup, retail pre-orders work. Click on the gamestop link posted in the last page when you get your receipt or the cashier might as you for your email so you can skip that step.

I submitted my receipt number to the gamestop website for a demo code last night, and still haven't recieved an email with a code. I think they probably ran out of codes or just stopped sending them because of the glitch where you could get a code from them just by entering any number for the receipt number.

 

i wish i could enter any number in the receipt # and get a copy ;p

Well so far, of what I played, it's really intense and fast. The game it's self is pretty awsome. But there is one MAJOR issue I have with it that needs to be fixed..

It's ANOTHER game that chose to use the console oriented matchmaking system like FarCry 2. It's absolutely terrible! It just matches you with a random match, almost every single time, after people join up in the match, once it starts everyone will get the message that it's a lan server and boots you. I of course can run them, but I get matched up from people all over the world and it's just bad. There's no telling what anyone's ping really is so you can boot them yourself, there's just not alot there.. A matchmaking system DOES NOT work for PC gamers!! There NEEDS to be a server browser where we can search by players, ping, and map filters since I also can't see how this would work when people want to use custom maps. I want to be able to choose whether I want to join which map or not, or if it's custom or normal.

Why downgrade the system? If they think matchmaking is more convenient oh they are so wrong.

Again, the game is great, but I usually end up playing with AI team mates since people will have to leave mid game because of lag, on any server I join even my own..

oh yea, and about the game's performance.. Well with crossfire off, my single HD 4850 gets 60fps solid, never goes below that, and never above since I have Vsync on and locks it to 60fps, All options max 1920x1080, with 8xAA. But then again we already knew this, it's a source game!

 

maybe its just a demo thing.

 

is this demo worth getting? im trying to decide if i should run to EBGames and place a pre-order so i can mess with it this weekend --- is the demo really worth it though? and if i do pre-order from EB, how will they give me the demo and will i get it right away?

Can you play this with bots or has to be online?.

 

Bots are definately there.. Infact, the second someone leaves the match, a bot automatically takes over where they left off. And when someone joins, the bot turns into a human player.

 

unknown, is the demo worth putting a pre-order down? i know im gonna buy it but im short on money right now so im wondering if its really worth playing the demo earlier -- is it that much fun? i heard its a bit short but definitely awesome. is there replayability in the demo?

 

Well so far, yea the game is really fun, but in every single match I've played so far, people always end up dropping, and halfway into it or less, I'll be playing with just bots, or one other person and 2 bots. The demo is really short though, about 10 minutes or less to complete it.

To me, it's worth pre ordering because not only do you get to play the demo now, but you save $5, so why not?

Hm, when I click Install game in Steam from the DL link, it does nothing. Anyone know why?
