so, i got crysis warhead, and i'm kinda regretting it, it was fun, ran fine on my desktop etc, just too short and the multilayer isn't fulfilling.

Currently playing COD4, GTA4, and TF2, but i like to rotate alot, like go from a few hours in cod4 one day to gta4 next with tf2 in between when i feel like it.

i got dead space, but i have to admit, i realized quickly that i don't have the willpower to play such a bat scary game, so that may cancel out left 4 dead.

i wanna kinda stay away from first person shooter, as like i said, i have several.

enjoy RTS games, but the last age of empires was a big disappointment to me. Sim city societies was also way too simple a game for me (i consider it strategy).

Ok, now someone try convince me to buy a game i'll love, so many options and i just can't choose.

thinking of these but feel free to add your own.

    Fallout 3
    Command and Conquer 3
    Sins of a Solar Empire
    Defense Grid the awakening

Left 4 Dead is great for kicks, but is not an awesome choice. It is very arcade. At the highest levels it is mainly luck...strats are not a controlled variable. I would suggest something like CS: Source. Bioshock is great if are into it. You will know in the first 5 minutes whether it is you. You can get a demo on Steam.

    Hello,

If you want to give fps a break I really recommend Sin of a Solar Empire because it is an amazing game. There are maps on there where it would take you days to finish. Its a really really deep game but its really fun.

I don't know if deep is the correct word to use for describing Sins...it's more like a bottomless hole of gameplay. Incredible game.

    Get Fallout 3!
at first when i got it i played if for like 2 hours and then turned it off and didnt play it for a week or two, i didnt like it at all. Then i kept hearing good reviews and watching videos of it so i started it again and this time got my stats right(kinda). I started playing it again today and so far im starting to like it although i am kinda lost right now  but it is a good game you will just need some time, unless you have played oblivion and liked it. I dont like scary games either and just to let you know i jumped up on some parts in fallout, so make sure you turn on the lights when you go in the subway.

Agreed. For lasting appeal, forget shooters.

Strategy games have longevity in spades.

Sins of a Solar Empire, Civilization 4, Medieval II: Total War, Company of Heroes, etc, etc

Pick your poison and kiss the next couple months of your free-time goodbye ;)

Try the homeworld series if you want a challenging classic RTS experience.

    Get LEFT 4 DEAD!!

It's not scary at all, nothing like Dead Space.

It's unbelievably fun, and has insane replayability value. :D

Play WoW - easy to play, can be addictive if you let it, lots of fun, and will last a very long time!

Having said that you also have to deal with being accused of being a WoW nerd, a lot of nubs and other oddities who play it like myself :p

then again you can always wait out for Starcraft II....hehe

I'm totally going to ignore what you asked for in a new game and recommend Left 4 Dead, lol. I too had my doubts about this game but after playing several hours of 'Versus' mode, they have been thrown out the window.

It's never the same game twice and although scary, you don't feel alone when you're working with 3 other people online.

I think the whole "putting 4 strangers together" thing works out really well online. It just creates so many different scenarios. Sometimes you'll get the vocal leader or you'll get 4 people who are clueless or the guy who goes rambo or 4 people who work really well together or...

left4dead isn't very scary, for what its worth.

you might get some "startled" moments, but games like deadspace and resident evil are scary to a much higher degree than left4dead, because of the hopeless "alone" factor.

you always have 3 people helping with left4dead, who can often physically talk to you on steam, or at least type.

    the game is really great.

i used to play wow, i had a 70 sunwell lock, but i quit like 2 months before wrath, i want a game that while long, actually has an ending.

i should said i played Bioshock already, twice actually, great game.

also, to the guy that asked, age of empires 3 was a huge letdown to me, the multiplayer was ok, but the campaign was just too iffy for me.

So maybe ill try sins of a solar or fallout 3, i like rpgs as well =P.

Age of Empires 3 is different from AOE2, but not radically so. It's set in a different time period, so the units are different, but they serve the same functions as their counterparts in AOE2.

One big change is the addition of a "Home City" in AOE3. This doesn't really mean much other than you can buy "cards" with the experience you gain from playing a game that help you during the game.

Also, there is no super unit for each civilization, just different strengths and weaknesses.

Overall it's still a lot of fun. It's nice because it isn't just a nicer-looking version of AOE2, there are new additions that keep it interesting and fun.

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned the abominable time-stealer known as Mass Effect.

As far as RPG/third-person shooters go, Mass Effect is pretty much the cat's pajamas AND the bee's knees. I've replayed the crap out of it since I bought it.

I would suggest you give Jade Empire a try. The game is a really nice mix of action, rpg and epic story. Definitely one of my favorites
Otherwise, Fallout3 sounds like a good game, although I haven't played it yet

I would also suggest FO3. It's the first game in a long time that I've enjoyed playing for hours on end, and there is so much to do if you feel like straying off the main quest. You really need to keep your wits about you and choose your battles wisely. There are a lot of points in the game (so far - I've played for about 20 hours) where it's necessary to take a stealth approach. Although you can play much of it similarly to a fps, you can't just run-and-gun. It's also satisfying to beat people with blunt objects when you're in the mood.

C&C3 is a decent RTS game. You can also try the HOMM series (even though they are a little old now), the game still looks great and can keep you occupied for a while.
