It seems like a good plot, I hope the game is as good.

Couldn't get into the first game in fact gave the game away lol but this second one looks more interesting and less boring than the first!

Hmmm, I hope they include a tie in to the previous game's story. My impression from the first game is that the second would also be about repelling the reapers whereas that synopsis seems to suggest they've bypassed that section altogether.
Still, Im sure it'll all make sense in the end, the plot is meant to have been changed to a trilogy afterall, and it'd be unlike Bioware not to tie it together properly!
Downside with the first one was the repetitive side missions and main story length, its like the story kinda cut off before it was originally intended to, so hopefully they'll have rectified that with this one!
The codex was impressive though, it was nice to see they'd put some thought into the universe. -

Definitely, definitely looking forward to it. The original was one of the very few games that I truly liked in a long time. I like the whole futuristic setting, the story, and the characters. Lastly, the whole experience was very cinematic - excellent voice acting, character models, and graphics. I've beaten it 5 times, last time I did it I was level 52 at the end with 9,999,999 credits.
And as noted, it's Bioware, a top-quality and consistent developer. Just about anything they make I consider buying (Dragon Age is on my list). -

Its because Bioware is Canadian.

I just played through Mass Effect again over the weekend. Beat it in like 3 2-3 hour sessions lol...Great game, can't wait for the second since it's supposed to be much more dark and developed.

It would be nice if they actually made this one fun to play.
That was the problem with the first one. It was an RPG pretending to be a shooter. The guns were not very fun to shoot, the enemies were not exciting to fight, and any class other than soldier played through with a significant handicap by being limited to guns that do no damage.
The story was okay, but not groundbreaking. The setting was creative, and sucked you in most of the time. The side missions were absolute crap, though, and there's no forgiving the programmers for leaving that kind of garbage in the game.
I *want* to like everything that BioWare does, because I loved the genre they specialize in, and I don't want it to die. I just find myself cursing the programmers under my breath every time I play one of their games, for some reason or another: ridiculous load times, too much running about, boring or wonky combat, making products that aren't enough like BG2...
Isn't this the first sequel BioWare has done themselves rather than selling to Obsidian in a really long time? -

From what I understand your class, romantic decision, and certain other decisions do carry over. Like if *spoilers* you let the council die at the end the sequel will have all humans in charger, whereas the council would be alive and well if you let them live. Its been a while since I've check up on the game so it could be different as the game gets closer.
looking forward to mass effect 2
