I believe it's an expansion and also allows for you to go online to play against people online who have the xbox version... so inter-platform online play.

Pretty sure its not going to be a expansion, but a new game with updated content. You are correct about being able to play with xbox members of the same version, but they haven't said if you will need to use xbox live to do it. :D This is one of my favorite games, I will definitely buy it.

I would wait for colonies edition so you don't end up buying two games, that is unless you don' care about multiplayer. If thats the case the get the version thats been out.

    From IGN's review,

"I'll start with the good news. Colonies Edition contains the full campaign mode and online features that the original did along with a whole lot more."

    IGN

So basically it's the original game + new stuff, thus there isn't any reason to get the original one. But you can't play with people who are on the original version.

    lol....not really.
the game is just like the the original...but the new edition allows you to play as the bugs.....SP+MP. lol..i saw the review on X-Play.....
If you have the original there is no point....and if you dont...woohoo...you get to play as the enemy...not that much of a biggie.

i got the game. This is my first lost planet game. Its fun but the online is laggy but its really fun. This game offers more depth in gameplay then other shooters not so much as depth but more gameplay compared to say cod 4. You get a large number of maps are different from each other that are really well designed and the graphics and design of the game is huge + as well. I think you should pick it up but it will frustrating online and thats all i have played since i'm not a single player kinda person. But you will be more then satisfied with the singleplayer. $30 bucks with more then the first one is worth the money.
