i have a hp dv6500 with core 2 duo at 2.00ghz/2gb of mem/ and a 8400m gs on vista. the game runs really slow and jerky, also the graphics are really rough. is it he graphics card or something else. C&C 3 runs just fine. If you have any ideas on how to fix this problem that would be greatly appreciated.

Lost Planet is a VERY beautiful and graphics card intensive game. Yes, it may have been coded badly for the PC, but it definitely looks great.

The reason why you are having trouble with it is probably because of the 8400M GS. It's a very weak card compare to the 8600M GS, more so the GT.

Try updating your drivers and hope they increase performance slightly.

Good luck on the upgrade. You have read the "Upgrading Mobile GPU's" thread right?

Well here are some reference benchmarks for Lost Planet.

    http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3029&p=5

The desktop HD 2400XT which is probably more powerful than the mobile 8400M GS, runs Lost Planet at 1280x1024 at an amazing 5 fps. Running DX10 makes things worse at 4.2fps. Granted they are setting everything on high, except AA, but based on this, I think your card just doesn't have the power for it without low resolutions and/or settings.

Nah its a very badly encoded game. It got so many bad reviews and people were just like WTF?!?!? A good 360 game just went to the crapper with that 1.
