You should run the game with some medium settings without problem on a 5730, afaik.
Have you updated the gpu drivers and such?

If you're playing online it could be an internet lag if the connection isn't very good

The first thing to check for is overheating. Run HWMonitor while you game, and look at the CPU/GPU temps when it starts lagging.

not used mobile ATI GPUs, is there an ATI "version" of Optimus, like it switching between integrated and dedicated GPU?

Check whether you have the throttling problem or not, since SXPS 16 is known for its throttling..

There is but it is rarely implemented due to constant problems. Optimus seems to work better than the ATI solution. However, ATI's variant has a dedicated graphics switching on demand to a point that the GPU doesn't directly link to the GPU channels of the integrated, so switching can be purely one card of the other without conflicts, unlike Optimus.

cool info, thanks - in which case the OP may want to check that the games he's playing are using the ATI GPU and not the intel one?

Did you install the latest drivers and game patches?

Also, when was the last time you cleaned your vents out?

Sometimes setting textures to "Ultra" doesn't impact performance, because it only sucks up on VRAM. The visual improvement should be noticeable.
