Long story short, i want to buy and play those games and was wondering how they run on the AlienWare m17x R1.
    My specs:
OS: Windows 7 Premium Home Edition (x64)
    Motherboard:SMBios version 2.5
    Alienware A07
    Bios: Alienware A07 03/04/2011 taille: 2048Kb
    Chipset:North bridge: NVIDIA nForce 730i
    South bridge: NVIDIA nForce 730i
    Processor:Intel Mobile Core 2 Quad Q9000 Penryn Socket P (478) (@45 nm) 2000 Mhz
Memory: Physical memory size: 6144 Mo, Type: DDR3, @666.6MHz, 9.0-9-9-24-2T
    DDR3 Hyundai Electronics HMT351S6AFR8C-H9 4096 Mo PC3-10700 (667 Mhz)
    DDR3 Elpida EBJ21UE8BDS0-DJ-F 2048 Mo PC3-10700 (667 Mhz)
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M (G92,,1024 Mo)

If someone already played those games on the same or similar specs, how the game runs and on what settings?

    Tnx!

Not sure about Tera but your setup seems better then D3 minimum requirement so I guess you wont have any problem:

    Min. Rqmts:
Windows XP, Vista, or 7 with Direct X 9.0c
    Intel Pentium D 2.8GHz or AMD Athlon 64 4400
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT or ATI Radeon X1950 Pro or better
1GB RAM for Windows XP, 1.5GB RAM for Vista or 7
    12GB disk space

Your laptop will be find for Diablo 3, heck you may be able to turn up the settings to high.

You might also be able to upgrade to a 7970m and whatnot if you feel the need to max everything out. :)

I have a desktop 260 and it struggled with D3 and almost died with Tera. I assume the mobile variant is much weaker, so you might be in trouble. You will probably be playable with D3, but Tera might be a complete no-go. I am not really sure, since I don't know how fast the 260m actually is.

How ur 260 held up with Mass Effect 3, Skyrim and Witcher 2? i ran them on ultra without breaking a sweat. The graphics in those games are amazing and from what ive seen Tera has similar graphics to Withcer and Skyrim.
I know each of those games run on a different engines.

The whole point of my question is that i bought the game and waiting on it to DL. I know its a bit late for that and i can check it myself, but sometime u have to know as soon as possible.

If you ran the Witcher 2 then you will be fine. I have not played any of those games on my 260, I had already purchased my new laptop when I played all those. I just happened to try the D3 beta on my 260 a while ago, and tried Tera because a friend wanted to play the head start with me.

I think Mass Effect 3 is using the Unreal engine? If so then Tera is running the same engine just with more effects enabled.

The 5870m are compatible fore sure. Any MXM 3.0 GPU has a chance of working. The GTX 460m and 560m don't work so well I've heard.

Do i have to contact Dell, or a 3rd party retailer? Because on there site there is an option to check for compatible new/refurbished parts that i can install, and 5870m wasn't one of them.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/610357-m17x-r1-5870-crossfire-running.html

And buy from Ebay or the trading section here if you can find them, or you can buy directly from Dell.(but they will not support the cards either way you go and are more expensive probably from them.)

Thank u all guys for ur help!!

    P.S.

I finally got the game (Tera) and im playing on the highest setting.
It runs like a dream, i find it really strange that our experience is so far apart.
U got me there for a sec, started to get the feeling im going to regret that i even thought that i can enjoy the full potential of the game (which the graphic design is one of them) and im guessing that D3 will be a piece of cake.

    Tnx again to all.

That is really crazy, I got a new computer because my desktop was starting to not perform. Maybe it was ram of CPU holding my desktop back. Anyway, glad it all worked.

i got some fps issues as well when playing terra. I'm quite sure my i7 740qm is getting a bit behind since it seems this game is very cpu demanding.

I thought about upgrading to a 920xm and do those little modifications to make it run like a 940xm but I read somewhere that the difference between the 740qm and the 920/940xm in games isnt worth the cost?

    Any feedback?

    btw.
2*5870m (crossfire isn't supported in Tera)
    1*2gb 1333mhz ddr3
    1*4gb 1333mhz ddr

I know tera is not one of the best optimized games as of today, since i messed a bit in one of its .ini files and managed to double the fps and reduce some stuttering.. although there is 6 presets(video settings) and from 2-6 the fps doesn't change one bit.

or it may be my hard disk causing the low fps due to constant content loading?

    so hdd->ssd
    or
    i7 740qm->i7 920xm
