Just got the crysis demo and decided to test it out my my hardware.
I ended up trying two different option, both running in DX9
1. 800x600 All High
2. 1280x800 All medium, Shaders High, Shadows Low
Results:
1. Average 25 fps, high 38, low 20
2. Average 17 fps, high 32, low 13
Since its the demo version of Crysis, ive heard that it doesnt run as well as the patched game and I should actually add 2-3 fps to my test.
That comes out to:
1. 800x600 All high: average 27-28, low 23
2. 1280x800 All medium, shaders High, shadows low: average 20fps, low 16
Option 1 still sounds better and Im thinking that the jump from 17 to 20 average fps for 1280x800 wont make the game run that much smoother for the slightly better graphics to be worth it.
Im thinking about buying the game, but want to consider how far I can tweak the game performance first. So how much better do you reackon this game will perform with the right advance settings and system ini tweaks +patch.
What resolution + graphics settings is everyone else running the game @
Any takers?

you know I downloaded the demo awhile back but it was way choppy on my system. I have a Toshiba x205 sli1, so I tried to change settings assuming it wasn't taking advantage of the dual video cards, but couldn't find any settings to enable sli. I was wondering does the retail version along with patch support sli or maybe even the demo version. I already deleted the demo if someone could tell me how to enable sli in the demo version I'll redownload and try thanks.

Just use the custom configs ( cubans custom config)
They should give you an extra 10-20 fps, perhaps even more depending on how your settings are set. Also, it doesnt harm image quality, in some cases its even better. -
When I had it I was running all medium settings @ 1680X1050. It gave me 15fps but it was definitley playable. There are guides on how to tweak the game to have it look its best, but be careful. Even though those tweaks can give you better performance with better visuals, there could be graphical gitches that make the game look wierd.

An OCed 8700M GT can play crysis all high at 1280x800. Seen it.
