how powerful of games can a macbook pro handle? can it handle morrowind? vampire the masquerade: bloodline? diablo 2? counter strike source? I am thinking of getting one but want to be able to play games.

As long as there are Mac versions of the games available, or you plan to play them in Bootcamp or a parallel software it should be able to handle most anything out today, and definitely everything on that list.

There's a native OS X version of Diablo II, so no problem there. CS: Source is apparently playable with Crossover Beta (which doesn't require Windows). Vampire and Morrowind would require booting into Windows using BootCamp, but would certainly be playable.
The X1600 in the Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros is clocked much closer to stock speeds, and can handle some newer games quite well (even Oblivion if you don't run it at high detail settings). -
This doesn't really belong in off topic but yes, it can easily play all those games.
