tbh, i know this should be in the desktop forum, but i've always been scared of the darkside...and i thought somebody here might know.
My friend got a new desktop for chrimbo, has an nVidia 250 GTS and has all the latest drivers and forceware (195.62 i do believe) windows 7 64bit. he's playing Crysis Warhead when (according to him) the shadows go crazy all over the place and flicker, then after the shadows are left as a burnt in image, he can see enemies through walls, enemies not through walls are shown with the binocular colour surround effect (where they glow yellow) when he picks up ammo the ammo pack is still on the ground (but not actually there) the grenades come up with a timer and arrow above them. because it seems to be only this game (out of many many many he has) he's thinking its a software thing (which is why i thought it would be ok to still post this in the laptop forum)... any thoughts? software or hardware?

Does he have the latest Crysis Warhead patch? I borrowed Warhead from a friend for a couple days once, and it did pretty much exactly this, on an 8800GT.
-
Its a steam download so i can only assume it is 100% up to date
EDIT: yes I can confirm he has the latest patch -
happens to my friend desktop with a 8600 and on source i minimize and maximize and sometimes fixes it but im pretty sure for his its his video card trying using a different video card!

No idea, then. Like I say, I'm quite certain it's a Crysis issue rather than something with your computer, because I've been able replicate exactly what you're talking about on completely different hardware.
Also, hey - 5,000 posts! -
haha ok thanks
i'll tell him the verdict -
Drivers?
And well done Mastershroom! Have 8 rep points. -
no he has the latest drivers, the pc was set up only 2 weeks ago everything is bang up to date
-
the newest driver doesn't mean it's the best driver, i would suggest your friend to try an older version. and odes he have problem playing other games? if not that's 90% a driver issue.

it seems to be only Crysis Warheads, the first Crysis was fine, although Spore had a few crazy moments (i don't even know what spore is)
I'll get him to try an older driver
mate's desktop being weird...
