I have the chance to get a rather nice laptop but the owner says he was told that the graphics card is dying. It is a Nvidia card and I have a working Radeon card. Will the slot be the same so I can just pop mine in? Thanks for any help.

I'm almost 100% sure it will not work. There are no standard slot in laptops like there are in desktops, almost all of them are built on the motherboard and cannot be removed or changed. There are a few exceptions and more information will help but the chances are very slim.

if you can be more specific, then we could tell you if your proposed solution will work or not. and yes there is a standard type of videocard that can be removed for laptops, but they are only found in high end laptops like clevos alienware msi and asus, although there was a dell inspiron which had user upgradable graphics.
