    Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone had come across/compiled a list of laptop make/model by GPU, as it would be HUGELY beneficial to anyone (like me :D) looking for a laptop with a specific graphics solution. I tried googling different variations of that criteria but couldn't find anything.

If nobody has anything, perhaps it would be good to start a list for future reference, maybe a sticky? It'd be a great fast reference for people to determine which laptop they want, as asides from size/form factor, GPU seems to be the most important factor that people are weighing in their decisions on which new laptop to purchase.

I'm not currently well versed in which model has which GPU, but I'd be willing to help for sure, if it doesn't already exist.

Yes, I did, and I didn't find what I'm talking about; if it's there, please enlighten me. I saw one list of laptop models with benchmarks and the list of the GPU used, but none of them were the 8xxx series. Nowhere did I see a list of

    asus g1s: nvidia 8600 gt
    asus model 2: nvidia 7900

    hp dv6500t: nvidia 8400 gs
hp model 2: nvidia 8600 gs

    Or even better might be

    nvidia 8600gt:
    make/model 1, make/model 2, make/model 3
    nvidia 8400 gs:
    make/model 1, make/model 2

etc., and this list is what I was questioning the existence of. Benchmarks attached would be a bonus, but I can find benchmarks in a lot of other locations, and I think a link to http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html would probably be sufficient.

Please let me know if something like this exists, and if not, if there's any interest in constructing such a list.

I think that would be a wonderful list to put together... as right now I'm considering an upgrade to a DX10 notebook in about 3-4 months. I've been searching the net for notebooks that have the 8700M GT, 2600HD Mobile, and 2500HD Mobile, and really haven't been able to come up with much. I'd definately be interested in assisting if you need it. Unfortunately, I have not seen anything like it, unless you were to try searching for a notebook to buy on some vendor's website etc.

Due to the very large amount of laptops available on the market, I'm sure the list would be lacking in some fashion, but if forum user input was given, it would help significantly.

As of this moment, my work week is winding down, and I doubt I'll get started on this until Monday, at the earliest, but if anyone else is interested, please let me know. Perhaps we could split this up by brands, or something like that.

This is a nearly perfect example of what I was talking about; it would be so much easier to utilize the unique resources of everyone on this site if we were to collaborate our knowledge into a central location accessible by all.

I'll probably start on Monday, provided work isn't so busy; please let me know if you're interested in participating.

Probably we should start a NotebookReview FAQ page instead, where the knowledges will be centered there, while NotebookReviews forum will continue to have discussion.

And how would we go about this? I've already got part of Dell catalogued.

Here's what I did so far. I can't post XLS documents directly, so it's zipped. If someone could please fill in the Graphics Memory entries I didn't know (not sure if they were integrated/dedicated/combination), or if there are any corrections, let me know, please.

If there is a better resource already in place, please point this out to me as well, as this is relatively tedious and I won't continue if it already exists/there's no interest in it.

Mods: could you possibly rename the thread to "mobile gpus by laptop make/model" for correctness? Thanks in advance.
