gpu has a few more points but he did not specify things like exactly which version he used, settings, resolution etc making all his tests invalid.

lmfao.. invalid...dude i got the asus score right from 3dmarks site futuremark...the settings were default...vista..

btw that was the highest 3dmark05 score that wasnt insanely overclcoked...and the normal clocked speeds were pretty weak so i couldnt bother comparing the 2.

alot of people that own the nvidia 8600m gt gddr3 overclock there cards insanely high to the point where its unstable after about 10min...but for some strange reason when comparing it to the gddr3 vr of the hd2600. no one ever mentions stock..or default...its always tweaked and overclocked then compared to a hd 2600 but even still as i have shown...there is very little diff..in the two cards

    ps.. THE HD2600 gddr3 >8600mgt gddr3..... done and done

also..If you own a hd2600 gddr3... i wonder if changing the device id to a 2600xt then installing the 8.8 drivers would make a differance...because im just reading now about a guy that did something similar with the 8600m gt gddr3...ill paste and maybe us hd2600 owners could make something similar..

umm no... try using 3d mark 06 or vantage for starters. Then, specify resolution and show some screenshots of scores as proof. OR at least show some links of where your results came from. Otherwise everythign you post is invalid and unconfirmed.

this revelation was based off of a 3dmark score? and an OLD 3dmark score at that?

i could get into the 101 reasons why this makes no sense. i think we can just leave things in the order they were:

    hd 2600 ddr2 < 8600m gt ddr2 < hd 2600 gddr3 < 8600m gt gddr3

    lol no man your wrong...

i think because you own a 8600m gt you think yours is better..but it just isnt.

I own a hd 2600 and i dont care if its better..but it is and i did alot of reading too find out..

so u lose..mines better haha...u guys missed the point of the thread...the new 8.8 drivers give a decent gain in performance...i get a extra 2 fps in crysis from them

i almost bought a 8600m gs laptop and id be happy with that...but since i own a hd2600 i had to find out how good it was and what it compares to...

how about you goto futuremark .com and u find a gddr3 8600mgt stock speed and cert drivers...and u tell me what the score is..

and ill tell u what i got right now

    7340 top that...

I don't think they are saying that you're lying but they need proof. IE screens shots? version of 3Dmark? 3Dmark settings?...etc...

Wow ... I love how this guy is totally arrogant and is dissing everyone who has an 8600m GT because the 2600 is sooooooooooo much better ... first of all try 3dmark06 on for size and anyways ... for now I will show you that 7340 ... has been topped, by good ole notebookcheck ... put that in your pipe and smoke it :)

The HD2600 is against the 8600 gs. 3dmark is nothing though, the 3870 beats the 8800GTX in it IIRC....

You're testing in a program that uses outdated technology. Test in 3DMark06.

And no, the 8600M GT is still better.

And as for you saying Masterchef only says the 8600M GT is better because he owns it... why don't you try reading your ridiculous flame posts...

3d mark scores can only say so much, all i know is that on my 8600m gt OCed to 655/850, I can run ME max details @ 1280 with stable 30fps, Assassin's creed DX9 max detail @ 25-30 fps, and I can play crysis DX9 on High with shadows on Low @ 25-30 fps.

You might have to take into account Overclocking potential on the HD 2600 512 ddr3 since most people who get these cards will attempt to OC. Then where will you be with stock 3d mark scores?

I think that if you really want to prove that the HD 2600 with 8.8 driver is faster, show some in game fps proof.
And since you seem to be into testing, what i suggest is that you do a full review of HD 2600 to help everyone with their purchasing decisions. It'll benefit everyone on the forum much more. If you're up to the test, I thank you in advance.

ps. just remember to use 3dmark 06 in your testing since 3dmark 05 score is really irrelevant @ this point in time.

    my...lord...I...can...use...instead...of...the...space...bar...too...

But really you still haven't shown me any evidence of a 2600 beating an 8600gt other than your own numbers without any proof. If you insist on doing it this way, I just got 8521. See how that means nothing without proof?

Also, lets look at something. search for the ati 2600 in 3d mark 06 http://service.futuremark.com/searc...ingsystem_displayed_=All&operatingsystem=-100 top score is 3668

now lets look at the 8600gt http://service.futuremark.com/searc...ingsystem_displayed_=All&operatingsystem=-100 huh secodn result down vostro 1500 ddr2 8600gt gets over 4200.

Interesting how much better that hd 2600 is huh? And i'm aware that the 8600gt is not the best card out the point is that it definatly beats out ati's last gen of cards.

    so...lets...see...some...proof...of...an...2600...beating...an...8600...gt
Edit: by the way look in wileycoyote's sig. HIs 8600gt scores almost as high as the 2600 did in 3dmark 05 in 3d mark 06

My OC'd HD 2600 gets a 4,240 on 3DMark06 but yeah the 8600GT is better.

right the ddr3 2600 definatly beats my 8600gt but the point in, there is no way that it beats out a ddr3 8600

And look, its not like we're trying to bash on the HD 2600 card, its just that by empirical standards, its been proven to 99% accuracy that the 8600m gt ddr3 outperforms.

Of course its very possible you can find special drivers for your card that boosts its performance and it might do better than the 8600m gt in some games. But in the majority of current gen games, the 8600m gt will be faster.

It'll be interesting to know what games your card performs better on.

I also want to add that this entire rat race over 3dmark score is so tiresome. For all you know, I can switch in a X9000 for my setup and get over 6.5k 3d marks but it doesnt mean its gonna outperform a rig equipped with a 8700m gt.
