how does a sli 9800m gt compare to a gtx 280? i don't want to lose much gaming power on a laptop
-
Well, if you are comparing to a top-line desktop...all laptops will lose ability compared to that.
-
Comparing a desktop and laptop no matter how top of the line the laptop is will be like comparing apples and oranges IMHO.
-
i would have to cancel then
i'll just wait for gtx 280m
-
But see theres the problem even if there were to be a GTX 280m it will pale in comparison to the desktop version and by a decent margin too. Every mobile graphics I have had Ive owned a desktop variant closely matched to the mobile version and there is always a big gap in performance.

i would get a sli gtx 280m when it will come out. that's better than my single gtx 280 right now
-
just dont hold breath,
by then you will have a 380 ultra on your desktop -
Yeah, I wouldn't sit around and wait for a GX280. By that time, desktop cards will be much more efficient. Laptops are always playing catch-up.

It is true though that if one is comparing desktop to laptop hardware, even though it seems the same, the desktop always has an upper hand.
