    how does a sli 9800m gt compare to a gtx 280? i don't want to lose much gaming power on a laptop

    Well, if you are comparing to a top-line desktop...all laptops will lose ability compared to that.

    Comparing a desktop and laptop no matter how top of the line the laptop is will be like comparing apples and oranges IMHO.

    But see theres the problem even if there were to be a GTX 280m it will pale in comparison to the desktop version and by a decent margin too. Every mobile graphics I have had Ive owned a desktop variant closely matched to the mobile version and there is always a big gap in performance.

    i would get a sli gtx 280m when it will come out. that's better than my single gtx 280 right now :D

    just dont hold breath,
    by then you will have a 380 ultra on your desktop

    Yeah, I wouldn't sit around and wait for a GX280. By that time, desktop cards will be much more efficient. Laptops are always playing catch-up.

    It is true though that if one is comparing desktop to laptop hardware, even though it seems the same, the desktop always has an upper hand.
