I'm so confused, last night I was getting 70-100fps on Doom on max settings 1440p. Updated my drivers today to test and I am getting 90-140fps
Checked my settings and all the same, 1440p and max settings. -
Will test when I get home
-
Nope, totally not interested.

I'm running these right now. The folks aboard the hype train over at Steam's DOOM page were serenading this release for apparently bringing substantial performance gains in that game, but I've noticed no real visible improvement over the 361.91 driver that I had running previously. Benchmark scores aren't significantly different either. Then again, I'm running Kepler cards, so maybe that's why I'm not noticing the performance yields that many of the 9xx users are enjoying.

Seriously huge gains for my 980 Ti. Probably the biggest gains I've seen in any game from a driver update.i_pk_pjers_i, Mr Najsman and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

Maybe? Do I need to do anything special for it to run Vulkan?
-
I'm not sure , they were talking about the API updated to be coming out soon after release , but I doubt it will be out this fast. I'm not at home right now, can check once im back.
-
What about benchmarks?
-
@j95 released their modded INFs. may give it a try if there's a chance of improved performance with doom.
-
what I really want to see from nvidia is a modded skyrim driver release. flora and fauna v 3.5 gameready driver
-
Drivers installed and fingers crossed. rebooted with the display set to 120hz and it looks that worked but will see how it fairs.
time to test doom and general usage.
EDIT: I updated GPUZ to v 0.8.8 and it now supports prema's 980M v2 vbios as it is reporting the clock speeds correctly now.Last edited: May 14, 2016jaybee83 and i_pk_pjers_i like this. -
quick question, after a driver install do you really have to reboot. I'm pretty lazy these days.
-
i reboot just in case something didn't get a chance to register like my overclock.

Based on some of the release statements, Vulkan for DOOM is going to be patched in soon, but it isn't currently available to the public. But hey . . . Good for you on the bump-up in performance. Would be great if us Kepler folk could duplicate at least some of those yields. -
where are the vulkan drivers for nvidia?
EDIT: Nevermind, they were added when i installed 365.19.Last edited: May 14, 2016 -
Installed right over the .10 drivers and played games all last night with no problems.
-
-
definitely not as the vulkan patch ain't even out yet.
-
Yeah, figured as much once i checked the patch notes. Derp.
-
-
-
I always get them in Forza. I dare you to sit though a cut video cut scene and try not getting one.
-
So, is this cause by driver or UWP?
I also got that on Quantum Break. -
UWP most likely. In my own experience i very rarely get this error, I only got it like once.i_pk_pjers_i likes this.
-
Not sure. Likely UWP. Although it could be a bit of both.i_pk_pjers_i likes this.

so far so good, driver seem to be working as expected.

so far it doesn't look like it. GPU is still good *touch wood*
also, after many driver releases, I can now boot my laptop into 120hz mode. oh joy!
doom performance seems to be really good. My RTSS fps was throwing me off because it was polling at 500ms intervals and not in real time. so i now play it at 1080p60 with medium-high settings...amazing that the game runs like a dream. I am looking forward to when vulkan is added to the game and we've been told it will be quite soon after launch.i_pk_pjers_i likes this. -
Apparently forcing AFR2 also works to boost FPS for that game. According to a random user on that site, 780M SLI handles the game maxed at 1080p 60fps without drops. I assume, since I don't know or recognize his name, and that he spoke with broken english, that he isn't using a modded vBIOS, which means his cards are likely throttling a little and most definitely clocked lower than mine. So that's good, if I ever run doom.
I might try the driver later. I REALLY want SLI support for Dark Souls 3. Though I did swear off r364 drivers entirely. Maybe I'll wait a little. If the next driver comes out cancerously I'll probably just use this. -
i am hoping for the vulkan patch really.
-
Looks like micro$oft still need a lot to do to make UWP better.
The reason i played in windowed mode, cause when i go borderless the tearing is unbearable. -
the concept is great but the implementation isn't. they fixed a few things but still missing the overlays, though unfortunately RTSS doesn't even support DX12 to be usable and so far only dxtory is the only one that will show an FPS in DX12 games.
-
I don't have Quantum Break because I refuse to pay $60 for something that broken, but my driver is not crashing in Forza. I've played Forza for hours and never had it crash. My GTX 970M is overclocked to it's limits, if I go once MHZ more on ram the whole PC comes crashing down.
-
Try play it in windowed mode and it seems the tearing happened only on system with switchable gpu.
-
@Phoenix have you tested this driver in bench, or maybe you don't like to be a Guinea pig?
-
Forza always runs in windowed mode, because UWP apps do not use exclusive fullscreen. I also don't have a switchable GPU - no Optimus here, thank god!
-
The crashes are mainly due to MS really and it only really happens on higher settings as running on medium doesn't produce the error for me at least.
I mean it was never a persistent problem.

And you know this as 100% fact..... how again?
-
Try playclaw 5 and see if it hooks; I'm curious. Also, Mirillis Action! should hook; at least to the desktop (for the exclusive fullscreen FPS, I suppose).
And what about on core?
Mainly because everyone is having crashes in all M$-only UWP games no matter the driver or system setup. Even websites that claim nothing's wrong with nVidia drivers because they use essentially bare installs of windows + games + drivers + metrics programs. -
i_pk_pjers_i Even the ppl who never frown eventually break down
Does anyone know if there are any reported bricks or major problems with this driver? I'm still on 362.00 with no issues but I'm itching for a newer driver.
-
Doesn't seem to be problematic like the rest of the 364 branch from what I've seen.Spartan@HIDevolution, Kade Storm and i_pk_pjers_i like this.

That AFR2 setting doesn't always behave as well as it should since the game does stutter at later levels with brief but highly jarring drops in framerate. Otherwise, despite no official SLi profile just yet, it does scale very nicely with stock AFR1 and 2. -
I haven't encountered any so far. Will see at the end of the week.
