So those issues mentioned means they are fixed or they are yet to be fixed (pending), if they are still pending to be fixed, then why release the darn driver with the bugs? Have you any idea?

I think Mr. Manuel is used to releasing buggy drivers because he likes bugs

On this driver I'm still getting the bug where my desktop gets locked at a really low sub-60Hz refresh rate after exiting a DX9 game with G-Sync enabled. The only workaround is to run a DX11 game or the GPU-Z Render Test in fullscreen, or disable G-Sync altogether. I've had this on every driver since 391.35.

I got some heavy stuttering and low frame rates on PUBG with this driver. Almost to the point where I thought it was gonna crash on me. I went back to the previous one and used DDU.

I see it mostly in game while being inside of a small structure. It will be around 130-144 fps and as soon as I walk inside a house, it will drop to 60-80 fps with stuttering. But, the driver just prior to this one doesn't stutter but still drops down to around 80-90 fps inside (small) houses.

It's probably a mixture of both, game optimization and driver.

I noticed random speed drops on my gtx 1080 to 139MHz (idle speed) when playing assassins creed origins and final fantasy xxiv. I don't think game optimization has much to do with it. It happens wherever I am in the game, it does not matter if it's outside or inside anything, small or big areas. During a benchmark, interestingly, I did not notice this. I will just stick to the official MSI driver which is 390.xx and be happy with it - I don't care about fancy numbers in benchmarks and usability is more important to me.

I have both of your problems in all blizzard games (Overwatch, WoW ... etc.). And for some reason my Google Chrome keeps acting funny and lagging in Facebook.

Worst driver experience ever for me. When I say "ever" I mean I have never seen a driver breaking functionality like this in my life.

Actually the older driver 390.94 does not work for me either. When screen times out and goes dark the gpu crashes so bad it results either in crash or insane... not sure artifacts? That are all over the screen. Idk what to do those are the only 2 drivers available atm. Laptop is less than week old and I'm pretty done with it already.

Can't. It will not install on the laptop as it does not recognize the hardware. It seems there is a new revision of 1080 in it and only msi custom driver is recognized (390.94) OR nvidia latest driver 397.64. Nothing else will install.

Oh boy so the driver really kills gpu's? No good at all. I will give msi a call tomorrow to try and escalate this a bit so they kick nshittia in the bottom for sth that works. I am happy my gpu did not like the driver at all before it had the chance to do sth very very bad to it.

Yeah no doubt this driver is broken. Went back to 391.24, and stuttering went away immediately. Frames are still dropping a little in certain locations with 391.24 on PUBG but, no stuttering to the point to where you feel like your machine is about to crash.

If anyone is seeing any type of stuttering, rollback to previous driver version and it will disappear.

This picture fits this driver perfectly. Pretty sure my average temps went up about 3-5c on this driver too.

For frequent updater like myself have a failsafe driver to fall back to. Newer is not always better but if you find a good working one you can jump to that one, if it causes you more problems than fixes then revert to the old one. I've known many people who havent updated since last year on their drivers and its working fine for them. On the other hand I've had some people having problems and all I do is update their drivers to the latest and all of it went away. So each computer setup is different so YMMV but even if you did have the same setup you don't have the same programs installed, play the same games, or use the same peripherals as the next guy.

Don't stick to benchmarks either, just because it gave you 100 more/less points doesn't mean it will give you more fps or less. Play games, if it works then all good if not then go back. :D

I only update AMD drivers to latest since they improve frame times after every update eventhough I have old gen AMD card r5 330m. Pretty much safer than nvidia with no OC limits at all.

So... since 390.77 causes me some issues with lighting in a couple of games (Doom, Skyrim SE mainly) is there... even a good driver? Or do I just go all the way back to 378.92?

I'd just go way back to whatever works best for your gpu. Hell, I was with my old laptop on sth like 340.xx till I sold it few months ago and it worked perfectly with the gt 635m. And yes drivers could be upgraded but why try to fix sth that isn't broken. I usually only upgrade when windows breaks sth and it tends to do that a lot lately.

That will not help you. I am using a custom msi driver for the gt75 8rg which came at release like 1.5 month ago (390.94). I think this driver is not even available at all for normal gpu's and other laptops (not listed on nvidia website at all). The thing is: they released this awesome laptop with awesome gpu without hw being recognized by nvidia. Thus custom drivers and gsync not working out of the box (had to do a bios update for that). I heard some people say the 391.35 (here and on nvidia forums) was ok though? Have you tried?

I was incredibly lucky my drive arrived late. Fresh install of Win 10 1803 (which, together with nVidia WHQL drivers, has been the prime suspect of this mess). Fresh install of WHQL driver 390.77. So far so good. Will do some gaming later. Some people even pointed to MSI Afterburner 4.5.0 exacerbating the problem by having low level access, though with the number of nGreedia fanboys on Geforce forum I took it with a grain of salt.

According to this thread even 391.35 is not stable. Micro$loth lit the fire, and nGreedia happily contributed the petrol lol.
