You guys crack me up so much.
    @Phoenix @Papusan @Prema
and of course this world wouldn't be complete without some mentally ill nerdy chess master who does nothing all day except hex edit bioses, randomly press EC RAM registers trying to block hybrid battery boost, and extract unreleased EC's that some incompetent MSI engineer put into their master bios.

    Fun fact:
SKYLAKE EC 17A1EMS1.107 is embedded in KABY LAKE bios E17A1IMS.30A (the one that msi says to flash with dos tool), before upgrading to anything newer).
And I did file compare /b with 17a1ems1.107 embedded in that bios, and release version 17a1ems1.107, 100% identical.

so this .109 EC i posted in the Gt73 thread is safe, but who is going to flash it first?

    MICROWAVE INCOMING.

As we know, some derive pleasure from the ability to claim their systems always have the latest drivers. It's kind of sad they seem to not understand what, if any, implications there are to using the latest driver. For some reason that reminds me of the old blond joke about it not being possible to have run out of money because there are still some checks left in her checkbook.

The Green Goblin always turns up performance on new hardware and artificially detune performance on everything else when there is a shiny new GPU to be sold. They generally start the emasculation algorithms ahead of the hardware release so it is not so obvious. Their magic cancer drivers always seem to serve them well in this endeavor.

How about you test it yourself first before posting it in public?
You know some people flash everything they can find without even reading a single line of documentation... :err:

@Prema I flashed it. Seems worthless. Can't even find what's new. Working fine but no point.

Ok back on topic now, boys.
When did this decrease in 3dmark scores happen?
It must have happened after 388.00.

And why has no one discussed this yet?
(Then again I haven't been paying much attention to the 1080 threads on OCN because that forum makes my eyes bleed blood with the new remake).

    @ KY_BULLET

Lol yeah, actually the drivers were out for a bit, I just woke up from a nap and saw that no one posted it yet but I sat on it since i was double checking all the links to see if they work, not really a race or anything, if that was the case I would've tried to post the thread as soon as possible without checking the links and making sure the bold and spaces were right (for people who cant view images) :D :D :D

Anyways no hurry to test this one, may or may not install it this weekend lol.. only been playing Dragonball Fighter Z at the moment, gonna try to beat FarCry 4 before FarCry 5 comes out then install those drivers lolol (I rarely benchmark nowadays.. I PLAY GAMES!) :D :D :D

The huge one in that driver is "[GeForce GTX 1080][G-SYNC]: Performance issues occurred with G-SYNC windowed mode enabled. [2032623]" IMO...

Who gives a hoot about some silly benchmark scores, you can't play benchmarks... :)

The temps were increased by 5-10C for nothing on 390.65 and my timespy scores were crap 2900 when it should be 3000 on 980M and OC'ing TS score will be 33xx. I reverted to 388.71 driver or previous WHQL driver.

Some updated 3d view profiles and optimal performance in VR and uplifting scores in 3dmark benchmarks.

NVIDIA needs a serious upset like Ryzen and TR gave to Intel for us to get anything truly awesome from them, but chances are pretty slim that will ever happen.

Because nVIDIA robbed your GPU from its max performance so definitely you'd get lower temps

These GPU Drivers seem stable for me @Phoenix so much so i have loads of power after a 120w TDP bump with Core +125 and Mem +500 offsets, No issues or driver crashes either

Anybody have a same-system, same-settings bench comparison between this and 388.76? Since this claims to fix 3DMark perf drops.

I've been considering moving off 378.92 for once :D

Especially since my 1080 performs like a 1070 in that FF benchmark. I figure some newer games need some help

This is my FS score here after every driver update at stock GPU clocks on my BGA 980M. I have data until 388.59, I will run the FS benching on newer driver 390.77.

@D2 Ultima Stick with j95 zero bloatwares 7-zipped EXE files because new driver in OP just wrecked my 3dmark to 965M scores. Are ngreedia started throttling older maxwell's? I got FS score of 7991 while CPU physics marks is higher than GPU.
I am testing it further, so worst case scenario, I will be forced to revert to older 388.59 driver without bloatwares.

@fire3element Try installing desktop nvidia driver package and I see no more stuttering or freezing on UI. I'm on W10 CU.

So anybody actually have problems with these drivers or do I just dive at them?

Any 390.xx driver causes The Golf Club to crash on exit. The game itself works perfectly fine, but it's annoying enough to have caused me to drop back to 388.71.

    Discovered two things:

1 - They have somehow managed to make SLI require a reboot when using @j95's desktop driver mod. Had to do reg edit trick. I even used the download he linked on the prema site page for the driver. RIP.
2 - I seem to (so far) have absolutely no issues whatsoever anyone in that thread has. From cold boot working properly, to multi-monitor dragging/dropping with and without SLI, etc.

    *shrugs*

I'll keep it until I have a problem I guess?

    Nope, you missed copying nvcvi.inf...installed stock nvcvi.inf instead. Clevo/PEG nv_dispi.inf + nvcvi.inf

    I definitely copied it:

The one on the left you can see was extracted into a folder bearing the same name as your zip file, and you can see the same filesize down to the bytes as well as the same last-modified date from the one in the 390.77 driver folder where I copied it.

Its worth checking the SHA1/2 Hashes of the inf file using HashMyFiles or HashTab.

Lots of large pictures, I'm going to spoiler tag them for ease of forum usage.

    unzipped folder:

    390.77 folder:

They look the same to me, and you can see the created time in more detail, not even a minute after. I guarantee you, I used the file to install it. I've been using the mods since my last computer, this was the first time I ever noted that I needed to edit the registry after using the mod.

@j95 I don't know if this helps, but from @Mr. Fox's old screenshot, there were usually only 0000 and 0001 in the registry entry for this:

But in 390.77 there are entries for 0002 and 0003 which both contain the RMDynamicSLIAllowed key, which I needed to change (0000 didn't have it, which used to have it for me in the past):

Just showing stock nvcvi.inf screenshot above. Differently, desktop nv_dispi.inf doesn't require parameters...bug or intended new behavior...

    Try nv_dispi.inf + nvcvi.inf below.

    Clean installed to be sure
showing copy from the unzip of what you just sent

    Still requesting reboot:

0001 is now present once more, but so is 0002, and both have the keyword in it:

Also, despite the test, I checked the new nvcvi that you sent me with the one I had from your original download, and both hash-checked out to be the same.

On my 378.92 driver (the last one I had) this wasn't a thing, if you want, here's that old .zip with the .inf for 378.92 attached to this post to check and see if anything is different (I usually don't delete these things):

We're using modded nvcvi.inf just to force nv_dispi.inf installation. Sorry for the typo above. Again, try both nv_dispi.inf + nvcvi.inf below. (DDU).
