    As with every released driver, version 391.01 WHQL of the Release 390 driver has open issues and enhancement requests associated with it. This section includes lists of issues that are either not fixed or not implemented in this version. Some problems listed may not have been thoroughly investigated and, in fact, may not be NVIDIA issues. Others may have workaround solutions.
    For notebook computers, issues can be system-specific and may not be seen on your particular notebook.

    -NieR:Automata randomly freezes with white screen
    -Gears of War 4 may randomly crash
    -Doom (OpenGL) may crash on launch if HDR is enabled in Windows
    -Rise of the Tomb Raider displays partial flickering in DX12 mode
    -Random TDR while using Firefox on Pascal GPUs

    Windows 10 Issues
     [NVIDIA TITAN V][G-Sync]: G-Sync displays may go blank when switching between different overclocked memory clocks multiple times. [200361272]

    At least after several driver releases NVidia finally acknowledges this issue:

    Well, just done the Bible of Modded Nvidia installs and benched them, With the same OC settings from the 390.77 Drivers the new ones barely get to 10,800 (10,796) in firestrike let alone the i7 6700HQ / GTX 1060 Notebook combo ranking #1 (10,865). Will see how gaming is like but so far me no such a happy bunny when it comes to bench scores right now.

    See my sig for #1 on firestrike.

    Breaking pretty badly on a 9560. Causes multi second pauses without any significant disk or CPU activity when opening Windows explorer and running CMD as admin. Persists across multiple reboots, rolling back to 390.77 fixes this.

    Probably the worst driver for me so far this year.

    Edit: Running Windows 10 1709 (16299.248), fully patched and up to date.

    You probably have a serious issue with OS.
    Because on my XPS 9650 it's working just great. Without any glitches and problems, no pauses, no reboots, at all.

    Hey all. I just picked up a brand new "gaming laptop" yesterday, but I don't think it's performing very well, or as expected, with these particular drivers.

    It's been a while since I messed with drivers and benches on a gaming PC of any sort, so any help or advice would be much appreciated!

    64bit Firestrike Results (See attached JPG)
    SCORE: 10,838

    Graphics: 14,361
    Physics: 8,176
    Combined Score: 4,610

    System Specs
    Eluktronics Pro-X P957HR Laptop
    i7-7700HQ CPU (Factory settings)
    Nvidia 1070 GTX Max-Q (391.91 WHQL Drivers)

    go to nVIDIA Control Panel, then Manage 3D Settings, then Power Management, change it from Optimal to Adaptive, then apply, then reboot

    Thanks for the idea! Unfortunately, after changing it to ADAPTIVE and rebooting, my scores are now even lower than they were before... DOH!

    What else can I try? Would the PremaMod above be something I should consider (with the "Clevo PEG," perhaps?) How about other Nvidia Control Panel settings? A few BIOS settings?

    I just expected much better performance from this rig, so I do really appreciate the help!

    Results with ADAPTIVE setting:
    SCORE: 10,630

    Graphics: 14,074
    Physics: 8,109
    Combined Score: 4,488

    You could use DDU to wipe current driver and try j95 debloated nvidia driver 388.xx to get best performance.

    OK, now we're getting somewhere! I did as you suggested and have seen great increases in the Overall, Physics, and Combined scores, with only a slight decrease in the Graphics score. (Strangely, I'm also now experiencing some REALLY terrible input lag and lockups in Chrome browser? Has that been seen around here before?)

    New scores with j95's debloated 388.76
    SCORE: 11,668

    Graphics: 14,057
    Physics: 10,711
    Combined Score: 5,452

    I'm getting there, though! Thank you! :)

    You mean Prema Mod BIOS?

    @palehorse @Vasudev

    Try these mods below for Optimus/Hybrid models. GTX 10xx & 9xx (Secure boot disabled).

    GeForce_388.84_Win10.exe

    nv_dispi.inf_v388.84_Win10_Optimus_GTX_10XX.zip

    Extracted driver package -> Display.Driver folder -> copy nv_dispi.inf -> run setup.exe (driver signing disabled).

    GeForce_391.01_Win10

    nv_dispi.inf_v391.01_Win10_Optimus_GTX_10XX.zip

    Display.Driver folder -> copy both nv_dispi.inf + matching INF -> run setup.exe (driver signing disabled).

    Alienware = nvdmi.inf
    ASUS = nvami.inf
    Clevo = nvcvi.inf
    MSI = nvmii.inf

    Keep these folders only.

    I can confirm the same too. windows explorer freezes consistently 2-3 sec upon opening. was afraid my ssd is dying but then just think back if theres any installation recently, it was NVidia's driver. as soon as I roll back to the previous driver, everything went back to normal.
    What sort of bug is this?

    Glad to see a confirmation. I also thought that my SSD was dying, but rolling back the driver using DDU to 390.77 fixes it.

    I suspect it is maybe scanning through a list for optimus? This is totally pure speculation. No other ideas since it does not show explorer.exe running on the Nvidia GPU, and there are no significant CPU/Disk usage spikes.

    The performance of a 1070MQ is supposed to be roughly 10-15% less than that of a regular notebook 1070, and it's certainly not supposed to be lower than unmodded notebook 1060's.

    With the latest 391.01 drivers and j95's INF mod, mine is still under-performing compared to the few other 1070MQ's I've seen tested.

    Here's a decent list of benchmarks for the GTX 1070 Max-Q.

    (reference my attached JPG for the various FireStrike results, specifically)

    For comparison, my best overall Score so far is 11,712 with a Graphics score of 14,122, which is obviously not as good as it could/should be with the same specs. Hell, I'm not even reaching their minimum results yet!

    Your post shows that the other cards with your clockspeed (and thus TDP allowance; MQ cards have varying TDP allowances) all score within the ~14.4k to 14.66k range. Your own test at 14.36k is under their lowest test, but not far. I would say your performance *IS* normal. A little bit on the slow side, maybe, but normal.

    To me you look pretty much on-par. Lower than you'd want, certainly, but it isn't cause for concern in my looking.

    Have you attempted using max fanspeeds to run the benchmark and closing everything else before running it? As well as disabling any form of Gsync AND disabling any non-essential programs before testing? Note that those units are all tested in a ~25c environment with basically nothing running on them for the purpose of benches.
