i hope it doesn't black screen me when the modded INFs are available.

Still flickering after 10 mins of game play when GSYNC is enabled. going back to 354.35.
nVIDIA simply cannot make a stable driver anymore!Ashtrix likes this. -

and I thought people would jump on this driver! LOL seems like everyone is bored with nVIDIA's "same crap, diff. version number" drivers

Hmm... They finally released MHO? I had no idea.

oh, but still true for the state of the drivers
-
Are these last few drivers stable/non-flickering when you run with G-sync disabled?
Will those 75hz screens run at 100hz?
I have found running at 100hz with Rivatuner set to limit fps to 100 makes for a very smooth gameplay.
If the game hovers around 80 fps average I set both to 80hz/80fps, etc.
Maybe forgo G-sync feature until Nvidia gets it working again? -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
old drivers have no issue with GSYNC on. I won't forgo GSYNC when an older driver works and the newer ones don't offer anything substantial. -
can 't test without modded INFs

Yuppiee!!! Finally fixed the screen flickering issue!
You see, the only game I was playing these days was Need For Speed Rivals, it seems that the flickering happened after 10 mins or so maybe when the FPS drops to a low level which seems to mess up something with the refresh rate and it gets stuck with that flickering even after a restart and even in the BIOS screen. The issue would never disappear until I installed the older driver 354.35 or 354.09 back.
Someone on the forums mentioned this FPS dip thing causing issues but I actually had no idea that Need For Speed Rivals is locked @ 30 FPS.
So I added the following command line to the game shortcut:
then enabled GSYNC not only for 3D Apps/Games but for desktop + 3D Apps / Games.Code:-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 75+
I then played a good 20 mins session of Need For Speed Rivals and my screen didn't flicker!

OK, I got the modded INFs from J95 and followed their instructions and set the display to 60hz before uninstalling.
I did that and installed the 361.91 drivers loaded fine.
BUT (and here's the kicker)
as soon as i changed the display to 120Hz and rebooted I was greeted with a black screen when transitioning into the windows login screen. To make sure that the initial bootup at 60hz wasn't a fluke I set the display back to 60hz and guess what it loaded into windows fine.
I have no idea why this is the case and might have been the same case with the 361.82 HF drivers.
So the 120hz part of my panel is now useless. -
So wait, I still should stick with 359.06? WTF nvidia.
Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
stay there. i don't understand why 120hz doesn't work no more!
-
Does that happen to the M17x R4 too ? (j94's machine is R4 right)
Another one with mess ? Oh man wth is going on..Now I'm really broken for the maxwell upgrade honestly.. -
No idea. The 361.75 was the last driver that I could get 120hz to work. Need proof of this happening to clevos with 120hz/144hz panels.

Consider it done... Give me a few...
-
uninstall with 120hz still set and install 361.91 and if it loads into a black screen but you can get the image back by opening and closing the lid then there's gotta be an issue with the driver.
if that doesn't happen then i dunno cos 60hz works but not 120hz. -
Did you use DDU? Because my driver install always is DDU uninstall and then I hit custom and click clean install just to be sure.
-
yup, used the latest DDU in safe mode. reverting to 361.75 fixes the 120hz thing but not the GPU disconnect thing
-
Default refresh rate went to 120hz. Working fine. About to enable SLI and reboot but this actually is the first driver in a long time that set my display to 120hz on its own.
-
Mind you I'm running Windows 7. I got sick of 10 but I have a dual boot if you want me to check 10 but 8.1 isn't going back on my machine.

Another worthless driver...
It broke full screen mode on MHO Online Benchmark... It flickers and then makes a 720p window in the top left corner of my screen.......
Give me a minute and I'll try 10 BRB. -
Wow... This is the worst driver I've ever used... I can't move my mouse outside of the boundary of the 720p window... Unless I use task manager to close it... Never in my life... Wow... Alright I'm gonna try 10 but I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND avoiding these drivers...
-
Nvidia continue to provide garbage as usual. Already over a year with just trash from the Green. When will this be better? Nvidia must create even worse drivers before they might turn? Or is this the new standard?Ethrem likes this.
-
this is BS! not being able to boot into 120Hz is painfully annoying.
Ethrem likes this. -
Nvidia knows there are not many laptops with 120Hz screens. Easier to make garbage in this way, without being arrested for junk.
-
great! pretty much means i am stuck on 60hz.
-
Why don't you dump 10? G2a.com has 20 dollar Windows 7 licenses... I can't even get 10 to connect to my WiFi......... And I'm not wasting my TMo data on an operating system I can't stand and won't be using again until I get my Quantum Break keys in April.
Don't try to tell me your system isn't compatible because that's a lie. The kernel between 10 and 7 can share all drivers except for those that touch the EC... Last I checked Compal doesn't rely on EC, that's a Clevo issue...
Pardon my indignation... But even as a moderator... 10 is trash and you get what you pay for...
However... These drivers aren't worth anything and it seems to me that you're always making work for drivers that you won't use anyway...
Oh yeah.. Benches? Average 5% loss... It goes up to 12% if I take out MHO benchmark since it doesn't full screen. Auto fail. -
Win7 needs to have CSM else it won't boot with UEFI, and with Maxwell + AW combo need pure UEFI, So no way other than 8.1.1 or 10
No such option with this locked BIOS, dead end with 7.This is an interesting post, – however there are some important information missing. First, Windows 7 x64 is UNABLE to boot at more recent UEFI systems which use GOP video protocol. That's the reason why user Zhi4neng mentioned that his system even "not start". Also, this is the reason why it's so hard to install Windows 7 x64 at any EFI based Mac computer, – they all use GOP protocol instead of old VGA or UGA.
Therefore, if you want to install Windows 7 x64 at any recent UEFI computer, you have to set the video output protocol to "LEGACY VGA". It is NOT necessary to enable the whole CSM!!! You have only to set video mode properly to EFI & "legacy vbios VGA" (or something similar). Note, this option lacks at several EFI based systems, – it is confirmed for some Asus EFI boards.
Short, in summary, there are three start-up variants:
–> no EFI boot, full legacy BIOS CSM mode
–> EFI boot, with legacy vbios mode (for Windows 7 x64 EFI boot needed)
–> EFI boot, with GOP (Windows 8, newer Linux distros)
And at last, you have to disable Secure Boot functionality at any never board to boot Windows 7 x64 in EFI mode.
It would be easy for MS to add GOP support to Windows 7 x64 in a future service pack. Come on Microsoft, stand to the BEST Windows EVER!!!

Maybe with an Alienware. I've got 7 dual booting with 10 using legacy CSM in combo with UEFI and windows 7 and 10 both are using EFI... For some reason Windows 7 needs the CSM even though it is a UEFI install... I had to turn off UEFI video support but the rest is pure EFI. Trust me, I went through a mess getting it to work... Especially since my machine doesn't force secure boot in EFI mode.
Okay so it was a lot of work but it works so much better with 7 so it was worth the work... Plus I get to see the custom boot logo again.Ashtrix likes this. -
Back in 2015 when people tested this combination, It fails to boot if used with CSM unfortunately and no video options in the AW17, I don't have any clue about the Unlocked svl7 sBIOS on the M17x R4 machines...
I just love Win7, using since the day of it's inception, it never held anything back. A true masterpiece from M$ !!Ethrem likes this. -
still wondering if it breaks at 120hz with win 10
-
It doesn't. Sorry, I have the flu but the driver works fine on Windows 10...... Other than the 720p screen issue... That's irritating. It won't full screen any game unless it's set to 1080p. I would assume the issue would be the same if I had a 1440p display.
-
hmmm....odd.
-
I'm familiar with AW issues... I got suckered into an AW M17xR1 after all. The only real advantage to running 7 in EFI is slightly faster boot... Just run it in CSM?
-
It will run in EFI + CSM with pre 980M chips I guess, but the maxwell + the same setting rekts the system display output just because of the broken BIOS (InsydeH2o) support for maxwell with VGA support option like the Clevo or the old m15x which is non UEFI machine... Regarding your issue is your Win10 is on R1 or TH2 does it replicate the same on TH1 also ?Last edited: Feb 23, 2016

Maybe I should actually try my M17xR1... I was just giving suggestions to run machines that don't have support... My R1 came with Vista but ran both 7 and 8 without any BIOS mods.
-
Yea I get it, thanks but the AWs are in oblivion now...
That machine of yours should be non EFI to run w.o any hiccups guessing tho, NVRAM reset on the AWs of 2013 is a huge pain, the 870DM has also NVRAM reset but not that painful..tbh I hate UEFI just because these corps use the advanced features to lock us out of the machine instead of using them for good..
The main reason I hate Surface , unfortunately things are like that.. & I think Win7 will live longer than XP despite the M$'s megaforced WinX. -
kinda disappointed with AW and nvidia....will HAVE TO GET A CLEVO NOW!

they are great man, I loved my P650SE when I had it and it convinced me that the P870DM was a good choice.
-
Does the R1 even have EFI? I'd be more than happy to install 10 but I don't remember ever seeing a legacy option... Just a PEG or something or other... To turn on and off the onboard 9x00 GS or whatever it was. I really only keep the dinosaur around because it will POST on a dead card and the time it takes to flash a card isn't enough to burn up the chip with the old aluminum heatsink that doesn't fit any new card (new screws are too big for old X brackets)...
-
The M15x didn't had any UEFI mess, the old machines are gold, they are not crippled by UEFI locks
-
Wish I got an m15x... I could still run a 980M... I haven't had the misfortune of a bad flash with my 980Ms (which I credit to @Prema for using a Clevo vbios base) but there's only a tiny bit of doubt in my mind that my M17xR1 would POST amd flash. Actually I think I have a Phoenix BIOS, not an Insyde don't I?Prema likes this.
-
You got the P377SM a good PC right already why M15x
, Yes the Legacy machines have Phoenix sBIOS, I remember my old M15x had the same.

Yeeeeah. We all come around eventually. I came around back in the m15x (not to be confused with M15x) days -
This driver set has been absolutely rock solid with no bugs encountered running my 980m with 100hz panel on Win 10 x64. Feel free everyone to jump on board.
