Any improvement in Talos for Vulkan?

I will if there is no answer, but I have to leave in a few minutes. So I'm gonna be a while with an answer. -
I don't recommend installing these drivers. I was having system hangs after install, and there are a lot of people on reddit complaining that these drivers caused their system to black screen and not boot. Good luck.

Edit/Update:
After reading more comments I've decided to try again with a clean install. Again for me it installed fine, but my start button just failed to work again. Not sure what in the driver is causing that issue for me, but after install the start icon on the desktop wouldn't work. CRTL ALT DLT restart and all seems to be fixed and the driver appears to be working fine. I will do some testing with The Division later when it releases.Last edited: Mar 7, 2016i_pk_pjers_i, Ashtrix and killkenny1 like this. -

0 issues here, as usual, you probably didn't use DDU to remove the old drivers. -

My 6th sense tells me we are about to get a quick /Hotfix driver to fix a fatal issue for people having a multi-monitor setup.

I don't know why, but I have no option for Vulkan API IN Talos.
-
You know, because the last one was getting close to being out for two whole weeks without a new driver update, and that can't happen!
Windows 7, 8 & 8.1 x64
Windows 10 x64
And with the new launch of these fine, upstanding, impeccable, perfectly-engineered, broken drivers, you can play Tom Clancy's The Downgrade Division, Hitman, Need For Speed, Ashes of the Singularity and Rise of the Tomb Raider the best way possible!
Unless you happen to be using multiple monitors, that is.
And here's the Release Notes, where despite all the broken stuff, they actually did fix things, which will likely make you really angry at the fact that they did fix things but break things so badly in the same go. Back to 361.91 chaps? Maybe good old 359.00? Also here's the official feedback thread.
Edit: I didn't notice it had a thread (kind of sleepy) so delete or merge as you will, mods
Edit 2: Merged

WHQL is a Microsoft certification, not Nvidia. Microsoft's WHQL process is outdated and only means it causes no Windows issues, but not necessarily hardware issues. So yeah it is Nvidia's fault, but also Microsoft for certifying drivers that breaks hardware.Captain_Bobby, TomJGX, Ashtrix and 1 other person like this.

I believe you need to opt-in for a beta to even have access to it. Unless you had it before, in which case then I don't know.
-

Seems so.
So... stock 980m + Vulkan = 68.3fps [avg of two runs]
DX11 = ~84fpsTomJGX and Kade Storm like this. -
Yeah, they claimed that would happen, because they're testing things. They want lots of feedback for it, check the steam forums.

Lots of people in the Nvidia forums are reporting the old crash to desktop problems. More trash from the green scumbags.

Sure Vulkan is in beta and slower now, but Talos is very playable now and it is a future alternative to the DX12 api for someone who refuses to use W10. I can't complain too much because the glass is already half-full. -
The glass is always full. The question, is "of what".Prema and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

Installed this driver yesterday. Clevo P651RE6 with an external monitor. Installed custom and clean. First I noticed the GeForce Experience lagging, both at startup and when swapping tabs in the client. But did not notice any other problems - untill today when I noticed that G-Sync is ... gone. Checking the Nvidia Control Panel, the G-Sync settings is gone there too.
This driver update has obviously gone seriously awry for Nvidia. Roll it back, folks.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
They pulled the 364.47 driver from the nvidia drivers site and replaced it with 364.51 beta.
There still waiting for whql from Microsoft that's why it's beta. But you can download it now.
I'm waiting because of all the computers crashing with 364.47 .
I'm checking all the feedback forums before ever installing a new nvidia driver again.
Crazy how there driver support has been.Last edited: Mar 8, 2016Captain_Bobby, MiSJAH, Ashtrix and 4 others like this. -
Anyone try the 364.51 beta driver yet .?
-
NVidia just put out new drivers 364.51. Just loaded them and about to play Division.
Update.... Had to restart the computer twice because of locking up. Restarted Division twice due to black screens with sounds but no picture. After all that, it's up and running smooth as glass.

For me 364.51 shows as whql. Installing now on P751DM-G with Premamod vbios.
LE: they just apear as whql in geshitexperience but they are not. I can confirm Gsync option is gone for P751DM-G running latest clevo bios&ec and prema vbios.
Guess I will return to 362.00Last edited: Mar 9, 2016 -

I think it's a good idea to hold off on this one for a few more days and see how things shake out. All the tech boards that I hang out on are reporting issues with 364.51 Not as many as with 364.47 but enough to warrant waiting.
I'm starting to adopt the mindset of staying with my current driver unless a newer one proves a significant increase in performance. Gone are the days of jumping on every new driver just because it's new......in my humble opinion.

But, but, but the geniuses at Microsoft know best! They force new drivers down our throats with Windows 10 because it's the best thing for us! They know so much more than us.

Oh my.....really????? I didn't know that because I'm still on Windows 7 Pro. I've uninstalled the kb updates that push the Windows 10 nag through WU although I realize I can't keep win 7 forever....its just that win 7 works fine for all my simulators.
Thanks for the info......I'll remember this for the future.

That was an exaggeration. Automatic driver updates are on by default in Windows 10, but there is an option to disable it.Captain_Bobby likes this. -

LOL......thanks saturnotaku. After I learned that Microsoft was downloading the installation files for Windows 10 to a hidden folder in the Windows 7 OS folder through Win 7 updates......I'm not happy with Microsoft sneakiness with them forcing me to do what they want.
I've always thought my PC was my last hope for privacy and control after I sold my soul to Apple when I got my first iPhone
Anyway, thanks for letting me know.

Last I knew you couldn't unless you did some registry edit.
-
Same here, thought it was by registry tweaks.. @saturnotaku please share how to do this without that...

I wouldn't use them after reading a few posts on the nVIDIA Forums:

Control panel, system, advanced system settings, hardware tab, device installation settings. Select no to disable automatic driver updates. No registry edit necessary. -

There is simply no way to block driver updates. Micro$h4ft want to play the drivers God and choose the drivers for us. See my thread here, I initially thought I solved the mystery but nope......no reg edit/ tweak/setting/group policy rule will prevent drivers from automatically being updated.
the only way around this is you have to download the latest driver and install them yourself before connecting to the internet. If any driver update is found, you will be forced to update it:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/thr...-in-Windows-10 -
for me, saturnotaku trick did stop windows from updating driver but not other windows stuff update, though you must do registry edit to stop Automatic Updates.
No Driver updates for me, and i can download the updates whenever i want. If there some updates you don't want you can use 'Show and Hide Updates' tool which microsoft provide.

For what it's worth, my windows 10 desktop does not automatically install any nVidia drivers anymore except for the initial install. GeForce Experience tells me when an update is available but doesn't automatically install it unlike the motherboard drivers... My WiFi /Bluetooth / M. 2 combo card got updated the other night.. My WiFi no longer works.Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

What I've noticed from my Wife's Dell Vostro 5470, Windows Updates only updates the nVIDIA Driver if it was really old, the WU only downloads nVIDIA GeForce Driver v355.98, I guess they either have some kind of testing as to not upgrade the nVIDIA Drivers to the latest due to the major fails and lack of quality control with their drivers in the past year, or maybe because WU is sensing that she only has a GeForce GT740M? either way, all good this way.
Can you imagine the amount of bricked systems / destroyed hardware if Windows 10 was always force updating to the latest nVIDIA drivers? That would cause havoc -
GT72 2QE, win 10, black screen and restart on install of 364.51 - WHQL. Back to 359.06. :/

Did you use DDU to uninstall the previous driver first? If you didn't please do that before blaming the new driver to ensure proper installation of the new driver. -
Yup, DDU used to remove old driver first. Had problems with every driver after 359.06
