LOL, not planning on being the guinea pig I guess?
I am waiting for my pre-delidded Silicon Lottery CPU to arrive next week so I have reverted BIOS/VBIOS back to stock and also using the first official Clevo driver 345.09. Then I will want to install this driver as I have pre-ordered Need For Speed and this driver is supposed to be better for it. Preloading the game on the 11th of March.
I hope a newer driver hits us within a week as my 6th sense tells me this is not a great driver. -
Exactly why I'm not risking either system with it. I have that same sense and its telling me not to install this driver.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Good job, people should proceed with caution as the previous driver 354.47 was a big mess, then this driver came within 24 hours to fix the bugs in the previous driver but I don't have a good feeling about it as a few people reported damaging their cards completely. I know they are desktop users with 980Ti or 980 or even 580 GTX but still.....I am not comfortable installing it.
Just doing my job of posting the latest drivers. -

IMHO, let's not do it for all, but only for fishy ones like this one which came 24 hours after a major buggy driver.
Like 362.00 was one of the cleanest and least problematic drivers recently and didn't require any warning.
Please flag this as [use with caution] or [might cause hardware failure] or whatever appropriate warning you see fit. -

I'll be standing with a net near your window.
I have a previous driver installed, no issues *knocks on wood* but I might switch to this one, "just in case," after there's some more feedback about this new nVidia "masterpiece."D2 Ultima and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
I won't tag it until I see an issue... But the way I see it, if you're upgrading to the latest after nVidia and their recent track record, you assume the risk... Its not like the last beta was the last driver in the last year that has bricked cards...

True, I think by now, after 10s of bad drivers in the last year, people are already aware that they are playing with fire by running the latest drivers and one must always be ready to take the risk.Ethrem likes this. -

I think I would be of little use because I don't do custom BIOS, have desktop GPU, run OC only on occasion, and don't benchmark.
Or you want to know did I fry my GPU or not
.

Impartiality is something that a mod has to have so I have decided that it isn't fair to nVidia to mark every driver release as being dangerous but if I hear of bricks, I won't hesitate to add a warning.hmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

I have the desktop class 980 GTX in my laptop so we are not very different I guess
What I want to know is if you notice any smoke coming out of your machine after using the driver / playing a few games

*facepalm* we shouldn't have to ask such questions... Neither nVidia or AMD seem to be able to make a driver worth using... Whichever driver I'm running on my desktop can't even do full screen.......

Could you elaborate that, not being able to do full screen? -
-
I will too, as soon as others report that it is working good

refresh my memory please, are you the mod that had a long ongoing issues with every new driver update that we weren't able to resolve? If so, can you please tell us if this fixes the issue you were facing? -
Yes, I am legend. I also fixed the issue a while ago
Well, the issue was nvidia/MS being silly with hibernation. If you disable hibernation you no longer have the crashes etc. I don't know if these drivers do solve the issue, but since we have new issues (battery mode is not stable, driver crashes etc) maybe these drivers will work.
Nvidia was not able to give me a fix btw. I worked with them, and I am pretty sure they don't care about my issue.Kade Storm and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

speaking of battery, I notice GeForce Experience has something called Batteyr optimization and it is @ 30 FPS by default. I usually change that to 60 FPS then disable that feature thinking it is only gonna limit my performance, am I right in doing this?
PS: GSync screen here @ 75 hz -
It definitely limits your performance, trying to make your experience run at 60, no more, only less if it can't muster the power to.
Though the intended use is mostly when gaming on battery, you never known in which game it might affect (such as with adaptive performance). You are better off with always max power, no limits

These worked good for me tonight playing Far Cry Primal for a couple hours with both my CPU and GPUs overclocked (160/275). I did not notice any improvements (nor in 3dmark or in game benchmark) but for me they seem stable at least.

It flickers like it's going full screen but then makes what is essentially a borderless window with full screen performance in the top left corner or the screen.hmscott and killkenny1 like this.

Interesting issue. First time I hear something about this. I guess day well lived if I managed to learn something new. The only similar thing I had was game randomly minimizing. Only happened on Windows 8.1 on T100 (Intel iGPU). As it turns out some process was way too active, so game minimized. Still not sure what caused it, had it happen a couple of times, restarting the game fixed the issue.
Shame on nVidia though, for bailing out so fast on previous gen of their GPUs, especially flagship model.Ethrem likes this. -
Someone else was complaining about 120hz not working in the new drivers, and running on 60hz... I think it was booting @ 120hz to black screen...Last edited: Mar 11, 2016

Great. Bad drivers is being used as fodder for consolites... makes consoles superior I guess...

Yay, a new Gameworks feature!

Is it worth buying? Also, the last time I played Tomb Raider was on the Sega Saturn back in the day, so do you think the game won't make sense now that I have no clue about the story?
That is the same reason I am not buying any Assasin's Creed game because there are too many parts I don't know where to start. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
There have been only two games in this reboot so far (this and TR2013), so not much of a backstory. The story itself isn't exactly the strongest feature of the game. But if you like platforming and third person cover shooters with mechanics a la The Last Of Us, you should definitely look into it.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

Unrelated: DX12 on tomb raider does not work with sli so its useless to me
On the other hand, it runs fine with vxsao o whatever the new ambient oclussion was called.

New driver increased my 3DM Firestrike GPU score, Stock clocks only but Prema mod.
Firestrike with 362.00 driver - NVCP all stock
Firestrike with 362.00 driver - NVCP changed to boost
Firestrike with 364.51 driver - NVCP all stock, Notice this one matches the old boosted score.
Firestrike with 364.51 driver - NVCP changed to boost, a bit but that's some juice right ...

Was it a smell of disappointment?
I also tried the new and shiny VXAO... Can't say I noticed any difference in image quality. Maybe I need to play more, a new walkthrough perhaps. -

Update & rolled back for now,
I just wish Nvidia is not hellbent on locking things like Windoze and make them work 100% fine regardless of powerbullcrap.Last edited: Mar 15, 2016
